For the month of June, we'll be enjoying a platform game called Super Methane Bros.
Some of you might have played this on a classic Amiga in the past. It was originally published by Apache Software and released for OCS/ECS Amiga computers and the Amiga CD32 in 1994.
The game is available for free on OS4Depot. It was ported by Spot back in 2008.
It is the same game, so should not have any impact on high-scores.
Super Methane Bros is a one-screen platformer where the aim is to destroy all the bugs on the screen.
To control your character you use the cursors keys to move around and CTRL to fire gas from the gun. To suck baddies into your gun, you must keep holding CTRL, and when you are ready to blast them out, relase the key. Throw them at the walls to destroy them and be sure to pick up the bonuses.
The aim is to get the highest score possible. The winner becomes the Methane Bros. champion of Amigans.net.
Good luck to all participants! Have Fun!

My first contribution to get the ball rolling. It is clear one must pay attention to the apx. score one has before game over, as you can not enter your name in the list.
I don't own any real hardware, but I can also confirm that the keyboard input doesn't work. The game starts normally but stays in the intro screen no matter what key I press on the keyboard.

That is strange. Both CTRL-keys works fine here. Are you guys using the SDL2 version or the original one from 2008? If you have only tried one of them, maybe the other will work?
I just gave it a go with WinUAE and the CTRL-key worked without any issues.

Tested with the old version not the SDL2 version as I don't know how to use it.

Your system is missing an older version of the shared object, but you probably don't even want it on QEMU. Newer should be compatible, but better, so try to make a link like this:

also fyi, you don't have use gmake to use the SD2 version that lets you use joystick as you only have to run the exe file and it works as long as you have SDL installed.
my issue is the game always crashes my X1k after 10 or so minutes??? will try the non SDL version later to see if same issue
had one years ago but couldn't find it last time I went looking....will have a look again
update: seems to not be a Super Methane Bros. issue specifically as today after organizing some pics had same system crash ? strange as I haven't updated anything in many months and never had this issue?
