ScummVM&Grim Fandango
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi,
I bought GF Remastered and then realized it is not supported. I hope they will add it later.
Grim Fandango (original) runs fine on my PC laptop but does not start om my SAM440&HD7750. It complains about lack of "grim-patch.lab" file but there is no such file on my PC. Here is a list of files in my SAM directory:

CREDITS.LAB DATA000.LAB DATA001.LAB DATA002.LAB
DATA003.LAB DATA004.LAB gfupd101.exe GRIM.EXE
GrimFandango.EXE MOVIE00.LAB MOVIE01.LAB
MOVIE02.LAB MOVIE03.LAB MOVIE04.LAB VOX0000.LAB
VOX0001.LAB VOX0002.LAB VOX0003.LAB VOX0004.LAB
YEAR0MUS.LAB YEAR1MUS.LAB YEAR2MUS.LAB YEAR3MUS.LAB
YEAR4MUS.LAB

I found such file on a github but then ScummVM 2.5.1 (default setings) "failed to create MiniGL context". If I change to OpenGL graphic ->"OpenGLGraphicsManager::endGFXTransaction: Could not load any graphics mode"
Files veryfication went fine, other games runs. Any help?

AFAIK on AOS4 you need the other engine (residual) to run it (although it got merged into Scummvm some time ago)
http://os4depot.net/?function=showfil ... /adventure/residualvm.lha

maybe Raziel can comment...

@mr2 I don't know if Grim Fandango Remastered works ... I have a version from CD.

grim-patch.lab is provided in the ScummVM archive, in the "extras" directory. Just copy it in the main directory of GF.

Do you have MiniGL?

As GF is a 3D game, you need MiniGL, what is not the case of other games (except Myst 3, Longest Journey, Escape From Monkey Island).

Be sure you have latest scummvm from os4depot whic is 2.5.1 version.

Then, be sure that on your setup you have proper MiniGL installation. For RadeonHD you should have Warp3D_SI old Warp3D driver (so to have minigl working), and for RadeonRX there is nothing in public , but only minigl4gl4es which is buggy.

So, be sure you use correct minigl 2.24 from os4depot and installed for RadeonHD correct warp3d_si driver.

Through, you should be noted, that os4depot release is only for MiniGL, which mean, that in GRIM you will have bad FPS. What you need, is the GL4ES version of ScummVM, so to have 2-3 times better FPS. If you want, i can build gl4es binary of scummvm for you, so you will be able to have decent speed in games like GRIM,Monkey4 and Longest Journey).

Everything already merged to ScummVM since 2.5.0 release. Resisual already in and everything works ok, and Grim, and Monkey4 and Stark.

Grim Fandango Remastered will not work.

While the data structure may look the same, it isn't.

Even if you get the game to "run" in any way (hacks) it will crash hard right from the start, due to massive changes in the data files.

Also, there is unfortunately no active development on supporting it in scummvm main.
Maybe outside the tree, but your guess is as good as mine.

It didn't cross my mind to look at the Extras ...but it turned out that this file from github is ok, too.

@corto, kas1e

Oh my, I forgot about that War3D_SI, that I do not have it
Wazp3D did the trick enough to see that game starts. Intro is OK and the rest of the game has wrong colors and is sloooow. But it works

What about Scumm options Graphics->SDL Surface and in SDL2 Prefs change driver to...I'm lost . If you think others will have an advantage too, then why not, thanks

Oh well, I've just lost 6 euros since I'm totally not interested to play it on PC

Forget about, wazp3d was always slow. Even minigl is too slow for.

Its not about surfaces and SDL2, etc, but about 3d drivers , its different :)

What hardware you have anyway ? Do you have working ogles2.library, warp3dnova, etc, etc ?

Yeah I know Wazp3D is slow but now I know the game stars OK and the problem was lack of W3D_SI.
