If he can't access it with odyssey then something more than simple HTML incomptabilty must be at state.

Odyssey is not *that* old, not when it comes to slow moving stuff that router interfaces.

Especially as the way I read it, it *used* to work for him. (Unless he chnaged routers, but that wasn't obvious from the post).

That seems... a bit of an over-reaction, IMHO. Why can't you use an Amiga AND a PC, as needed?

Strange as it may seem, I no longer own a PC. I have other reasons but don't want to sound too negative about Amiga because I like using it.

Sorry but I think you're wrong. I remembered his post in the Odyssey forums that stated this:

(Loosely quoted:)
My router developer updated it's firmware and now i can't access the routers webpages anymore and only get this message:

Translation:
Welcome...

The ...GUI uses modern methods for optimized display on a variety of machines. Unfortunately your browser doesn't support these methods.

We recommend updating your browser or using another one.

i guess he is using a FritzBox from avm which is the most popular modem/router here in germany.

the manufactorer released a big update of the firmware last year which introduced quite a nice responsive html ui.
unfortunately they are now using some wuite modern stuff. espially files and blobs in their javascript code:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Blob

and this is too modern for currently *any* amiga browser (odyssey, timberwolf, netsurf) - none of it supports it. and thus the owners of such a fritzbox (like me) can no longer access the webinterface from the amiga side :-/

Yep, using a FritzBox here and before firmware 6.50 everything worked fine.

After that every Amiga browser is stuck at the info screen.

btw, talking with a mos user who was nice enough to double check his fritz.box with Odyssey 1.23 and 1.24 he confirmed that it doesnt work with 1.23 but does work with current 1.24.

so, its a matter of getting an updated version

I have said it before... would love to see A-Eon/AmigaKit finance and sell a good web browser with periodic updates, even if paid for along the way, for a great browser experience on Amiga NG.

This day and age, many of us live on and off the internet. My job requires it. Happy to pay for a good browser.

Some wonderful news to share with Ringhio Notifications and Gadget Classes development!

The new Animation Gadget Class has been developed for the Enhancer Software.

Max has gone to work and integrated it into the next Enhancer Software release of Ringhio Notifications.

He has created a nice video here to show the new features in conjunction with the Progress Bar Gadget:

Thanks to all in the AmigaDeveloper.com Team!

I think that we can last about two years before facing the IBrowse/Aweb situation again.... so this is a critical situation.... the paradox, in this situation, is that Ibrowse is still under development..

@All

Do you know if a browser like Opera is portable to the Amiga platform?

Opera was stomped by the main devs way back and later resurrected as part of the Chromium wave, so no, unless Chromium can be ported, Opera is a nogo

AmigaDeveloper.com Team member, Guillaume has added a very nice feature to Updater (our system and purchases update tool)

Any software you purchase with an AmiSphere serial key label on the back can be registered inside Updater and it will automatically get added to your purchases list. When the software is updated, it is displayed in Updater and you can download the upgrade quickly and easily with a few clicks

Resized Image

Updater will be supplied in the next FREE upgrade to the Enhancer Software. Get your copy of Enhancer Software from resellers worldwide or as a digital download from AMIStore.

Thanks Guillaume, great work!

The new Updater features support for animated Ringhio Notification bubbles when downloading files. It will be included in the next version of the Enhancer Software.

To enable this feature, first select the Settings menu option to open the Settings window:

Resized Image

Tick the box "Notification mode" in the Download section and click Save or Use.

The next time your AMIStore purchase or Enhancer Software System component is downloading, an animated Notification bubble will be displayed:

Resized Image

You cannot see it in this static image, but the AmiSphere logo on the left of the notification bubble spins around as the download progresses. This new feature of Updater brings three Enhancer Software components together; the new Ringhio Notifications, the progressbar.gadget and the new anim.gadget.

Thank you Guillaume, Max and Thomas!

There have been some notable changes to the Enhancer Software Installation:

* It is now possible to select installation modes of Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. Therefore to make it easier for users who do not wish to customise the installation, I had added the Novice option (however it is still not selected as default). This simplifies and accelerates the installation greatly.

* There is a new command added to the Enhancer Software called SystemReboot. This tool is used at the end of the Installation script because there are a mix of components that require a "soft" reboot and/or "hard" reboot. It uses the our progressbar gadget class and displays a count down until the system will restart. Once it reaches a critical time period, the blue progress bar changes to orange and tasks start to shut down. Please review the attached image for illustration.

Resized Image

Here is the picture attachment of the orange progressbar gadget in SystemReboot. Once it reaches a "critical" level to signify that the system is imminently going to restart (in 6 seconds in this example).

Why not add a HARD reboot and a SHUTDOWN option to the system reboot app while the code is still warm?
With a tooltype option to let the user choose the countdown duration.

iiuc then the countdown color changes from greet to orange while it counts down?

If not, why not add this and let the countdown go from a green progress bar through yellow to red while the countdown...well, counts down
