The following software updates for the A600GS and A1200NG have been uploaded through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere users:

46.2.1425 (27.02.2026):

SystemV46:

* SysMonitor: update to displays CPU and GPU system statistics on AmiBench screen

* Editpad v46.2 update: now uses Toolbar MCC and has more ARexx options.

Programs:

* AmiChess updated and added to Programs:Games - rebuilt with VBCC and adapted to Zune where no drag and drop was available. GUI layout restructured.

* HippoPlayer updated to version 2.66

Soliton card game has been bug fixed and will be included in the next AmiBench update for the A600GS and the A1200 NG

The following software updates for the A600GS and A1200NG have been uploaded through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere users:

A600GS/A1200NG System Menu:

* Expand information in System/General Tab

* Add Motherboard memory options to Customise Memory settings, allows up to 64MB extra FAST memory without the conflict with extended amounts of CHIP memory. Useful for customs systems or games that might be more demanding on resources.

* Update built in ROMS to version 51.51 build date 2026-01-28

AmiBench:

* Add SYS:Documentation drawer icon. Put this drawer in browser mode to facilitate descending into sub-drawers without leaving excessive windows open.

* Fix bug with Browser mode updates, that could result in wrong fonts and backgrounds being used when navigating the history.

* The built-in datatype image class now caches images in memory and uses the DTST_MEMORY source type, this avoids clutter in T: whilst still allowing dynamic update of theme imagery.

SystemV46:

* Update regina.library to latest versions as of 2026-01-29 (no version number changes) fixes by the AROS team enhance compatibility and STDIO handling. SAY now writes to the shell window as do runtime errors.

* Update ASL.library to 50.10 (01/12/2026)

* Update ZUNE muimaster.library and classes.

* Update filesysbox.library to 54.8

* Add example SSHFS mount file in SYS:Storage/DOSDrivers. Copy this file into DEVS:DIOSDrivers and edit for easy secure file exchange via sftp backend.

* Add EditPad - a rapidly developing simple text editor.

* Add S:InstallLHA S:Install7z and S:InstallNDK32 helper scripts to assist in installing some useful software via the web.

AmiPDF 46.16:

* Add Menu->Projects->Iconify and minimal ARexx port (QUIT only supported at present more to come)

AmiBrowser 46.37:

* Add Navigation menu with Back Forward and Home, Projects->Iconify menu.
* Add Privacy->Delete All Cookies menu item to clear all cookies.
* Add ARexx port with support for QUIT, OPEN, GET and GO functions.

GO TARGET/K,N/N,BACK/S,FORWARD/S,HOME/S
OPEN URL/A,TARGET/K,RELOAD/S,POST/K,SMART/S
GET ITEM/A,TARGET/K
TARGET is the ID number of a Window, may later be a frame name too.

GET ITEM supports URL and WINDOWID (which can then be used as target)

RELOAD,POST and SMART are not yet implemented but planned soon.

* When closing AmiBench from the AmiBench menu it will attempt to shutdown any instances of YAM, AmiBrowser and AmiPDF before exiting, to help ensure data security.

Programs:

* Add VBCC distribution by kind permission of the authors. By default it is setup for compiling std c library programs but by installing ether 3.5 3.9. 3.2 SDKs in Programs:Programming/NDK it will automatically enable compiling for AmigaOS 3.xx

* The provided helper script S:InstallNDK32 will fetch and install the 3.2 NDK from Aminet.

EditPad is now added to AmiBench. By popular demand users requested a text editor to complement the other tools added such as AmiBrowser, AmiPDF and Unarchiver.

Editpad is a recreation of the original with enhanced features added. Thanks to our developer Javier for his great work!

A600GS/A1200NG: Add ArmPDFIum armlibrary to interface with libpdfium.so providing custom callbacks to invoke pdfium functionality from 68k space.

AmiPDF-NG is a new modern PDF reader for AmiBench on the A600 GS and the A1200 NG.

The reader utility renders PDF douments accurately and rapidly.

It will be available to download in the next free system update.

We hope that this modern PDF tool, along with AmiBrowser and UnArchiver released in 2025 will push AmiBench towards being a useful desktop for daily computing tasks.

* Add FetchURL command which allows fast downloading of URLs via the DBUS interface of the A600GS/A1200NG main menu with progress requester.

Updates to AmiBrowser:
o Add support for the Autentication requester requird fior HTTP_AUTH et al.
o Add suport for openling local HTML files. Using both file:///VOLUME:path/to/file and file:///volume/path/to/file forms
o Add handler to allow reading of files from amiga filesystems file:///RAM Disk/test.html will work!

o Improve file upload support, now supports multifile uploads in dropbox / google cloud etc
o Ensure initial graphics buffer is initialised to white to avoid apparent gfx corruption for download URLs etc that require no rendering

A600GS/A1200NG:

* Add support for creating HardDisk files in the Custom Fullsystem edit menu.
* Created Hardisk files are blank but can be formatted using system software.
* Add Export Harddisk menu option to allow backup of individual harddisk files.
* Extension to private DBUS interface to support many of the above features.

The A1200 NG and A600 GS will be demonstrated at Amiga 40 Germany this weekend.

We will be demonstrating the latest AmiBench running AmiBrowser web browser, ScummVM with it's new ScummVM GUI, the new video player and UnArchiver.

Play the new Outrun port on the A600GS.

SCUMMVM has be added to AmiBench on the A600GS and the A1200 NG. The free update is coming very soon.

AmiBrowser 46.20 (Pre Release 2):

* Add support for downloading files: currently supports downloading to drawer based and true disks only. RAM: and hardfile based disks will not work, but will fail silently. Hopefully this will be resolved at the next prerelease stage.

*Adds a simple downloads manager window: files downloaded in any given AmiBrowser session are listed, along with full file path and current status. Double click on file entry will open the AmiBench window containing the download.

* Update UnArchiver to 46.6

Yes it is the same code base. AmiBench's MakeDir command has already been updated recently.

Today the following public releases have been made available to download on Updater utility:

Notes:

Please be patient while the AmiBrowser data files are downloaded and installed (2GB size).

AmiBrowser is at pre-release status. File downloading and ASL Requesters have not yet been added.

This is not an AROS program. It is a 68K / 3.x MUI application.

A bit more detail:

- the browser is tightly integrated to AmiBench
- Layout engine is handled by ARM library
- Input is handled by the 68K app - it is responding to real intuition events and no kind of overlay
- File Downloads are to be added- the 68K app functions need to be written
- Bookmarks are to be added too (68K app functions)
- Some speed enhancements have been rewritten in ARM assembly language such as BGRA to RGBA conversion.

Initial preview release will be in August. There are many more updates to the 68K application side to be done in September and pushed out to users. This will be a larger project to complement AmiBench.
