AmiPDF-NG is a new modern PDF reader for AmiBench on the A600 GS and the A1200 NG.

The reader utility renders PDF douments accurately and rapidly.

It will be available to download in the next free system update.

We hope that this modern PDF tool, along with AmiBrowser and UnArchiver released in 2025 will push AmiBench towards being a useful desktop for daily computing tasks.

Your reply suggests that we do not update our software. We have consistently updated and fixed any bugs for over a decade. Our developers work hard to ensure fixes are implemented in a timely way.

MakeDir v54.14 is available from Updater tool which should resolve the issue from the older v54.11 release.

@eliyahu

This is not an AROS program. It is a 68K / 3.x MUI application.

A bit more detail:

- the browser is tightly integrated to AmiBench
- Layout engine is handled by ARM library
- Input is handled by the 68K app - it is responding to real intuition events and no kind of overlay
- File Downloads are to be added- the 68K app functions need to be written
- Bookmarks are to be added too (68K app functions)
- Some speed enhancements have been rewritten in ARM assembly language such as BGRA to RGBA conversion.

Initial preview release will be in August. There are many more updates to the 68K application side to be done in September and pushed out to users. This will be a larger project to complement AmiBench.

Can I assume that any future use of open-source software by AmigaKit will follow this practice of remerging any changes back into public code repositories?

To assume our future actions, we must first consider our past actions over the last two years:

* Amiberry project: AmigaKit developer made several significant improvements and bug fixes to Amiberry have been contributed back to the project. They have been put back into the mainstream Amiberry code and made it into public releases.

* AROS: AmigaKit developer identified two bug fixes to AROS which were sent back to the developers and one at least was confirmed as mainlined

* YAM: Timer bug was identified by AmigaKit developer and code change was fed back on the main YAM bug report Two further bugs and source code fixes were already queued up to be fed back.

When you look at this evidence it doesn’t really fit the narrative that is trying to be portrayed about AmigaKit.

@kas1e

Many people use Updater as their only and preferred way of getting updates. They are grafeful that they can conveniently download packages such as AmiSSL. It is no different to a website such as OS4Depot offering AmiSSL as a download. The entire unaltered package is distributed.
