Re: Time Gadget Class
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

@328gts

Thank you. We are trying to get the code bases of the A600GS (SystemV46) as close to the Enhancer Software PPC (SystemV54) as close as possible. This will mean that we develop once and compile for each target.

Time Gadget Class

Quite a regular

The new Time Gadget Class v54.33 (PPC) and v46.33 (68k) code has been restructured by our developer. It also features a work around for random corruption reported under AROS Intuition.

There is a new v54.33 version that will feature for PPC machines via the next Enhancer Software update.

@Joerg

P96 is a dead end in development terms. For years the RadeonHD and RX drivers have their own resource which bypasses many of the constraints of P96 and the original graphics lib. The RadeonHD and RX drivers are not simply drivers.

There are other solutions now that are much better than being locked into the old P96 API.

@Joerg

Yes A-EON purchased it from the original developer some years ago along with SP-Engine. Partition Gadget Class was also purchased by A-EON.

@Kas1e

PCIgraphics.card is owned by A-EON as well as ATIRadeon.card- most of the 2D drivers except for Voodoo etc

The old graphics lib with P96 cludged on is based on 1980/1990s code and cannot be worked around any longer. There are alternative solutions.

This is also applicable to Workbench. This is why we have used our own solution, AmiBench, in the A600GS.

Key components of OS4 are owned by A-EON and other third parties. For example, A-EON owns most of the 2D graphics system, Warp3D, MediaToolBox etc.

A substantial amount of components have been developed from scratch replacing files which could be tied up in yet more legal entanglements. This work has been done over the last 6 years in anticipation of this event happening.

Re: Updater tool: latest releases and updates

Full changelog since last public release:

Version 5.20 2023/05/25
- Fixed a potential crash in the find card code when the card is already in
use

Version 5.19 2023/04/18
- Fixed an infinite loop in code to get PCIe speed capabilities, which would
trigger if the parent PCIe device isn't the root controller

Version 5.18 2023/02/14
- Disabled GART for the Sam460 again (was accidentally enabled)
- The usleep() threshold for using the timer device was broken a while ago.
FIXED
- Rewrote usleep() so it no longer needs to open/close the timer device
every time there's a longer delay (lowers overhead)

Version 5.17 2022/11/18
- Now skips attempting to initialize the card altogether if the card is
already in use

Version 5.16 2022/11/17
- Fixed a potential crash if initializing the driver failed

Version 5.15 2022/10/18
- Enabled the UVD interrupt (trap handler)
- Fixed interrupt handling for the Sam460. Caching on PCIe reads from VRAM
was causing the interrupt handler to read stale data, resulting in missed
interrupts which, in turn, causes a complete freeze. Added fallback and
workaround code (#917)

Re: AK DataType vs. WarpDT

@kas1e

Our developer is going to write the developer docs to accompany the new Picture Datatype and AK-ILBM. These documents will be uploaded to the offical Wiki. There are months of development to cover in these documents.

One nice feature of the AK-ILBM datatype introduced this week is that it supports byterun2 decoding for the Atari ST variant ILBM forms. Saving (DTM_WRITE) is now also enabled.

@Maijestro

All the changes to the 68K version are made to the PPC version and vice versa. They essential share the same code base.

Some good development work in the last few weeks on AK-Datatypes: AK-ILBM updated, Picture Datatype updated and Datatypes Library updated in their PPC (V54) and 68K (V46) versions.

We are upgrading these ready for the forthcoming Enhancer Software V2.3 and also the A600GS.

AK-ILBM Datatype V54.19 / V46.19
Datatypes Library V54.24 / V46.24
Picture Datatype V54.9 / V46.9

hanks, that was a good piece of advice! The culprit was 'WarpWebP.datatype' V. 45.5. I got it from OS4Depot, and it is quite fresh.

Edit: Also the 'WarpJPG datatype' which Eliyahu recommended makes Multiviewer to crash.

Very interesting, we will be keen to look into this. We test it with AK-Datatypes which is also included on the Enhancer Software.

@Futaura

It is distributed complete without modification of any docs/licences under the third parties "Packages" tab. There is absolutely no assertion it is developed by either AmigaKit or A-EON.

As far as A600GS is concerned, I am still looking for somebody to work on 68K asm optimised code in AmiSSL. It currently only has very limited optimisations, compared to PowerPC.

Going forward A600GS version could benefit from some native ARM code optimisations

@Maijestro

Quote:
Of course, it is confusing for end consumers to have to use update tools to check for updates.

All A-EON X5000 and A1222+ users have Updater utility preloaded on their systems. This is the official way of Updating their system software from A-EON. So it makes sense to also support and help third party developments such as AmiSSL etc.

Quote:
Which operating system is used? Is it AmiBench? What is AmiBench? Is it based on AmigaOs3.x?

The A600GS uses AmiBench Release V46.1. This is compiled from the very same codebase of the Enhancer Software components. It features all the Command set that has been developed for the Enhancer Software over the last few years. It features some gadgets, classes and of course the full AK-Datatypes package. Our new Datatypes Library and Picture Datatype classes are included. It also has AmiSphereServer ready to use Updater tool and AMIStore. It is compatible with OS3.x.
