Hello, I've got slow speed transfers when using SMBFS. Just to give you an idea : From my PC under Linux to my Linux Box (file server) I get nearly 80 MB/s (yeah, really fast for huge transfers). From my X1000 under AmigaOS 4.1 FE to the same Linux Box, I can't past 450KB/s (yeah, pretty slow for huge transfers). So where is the trouble ? What must I configure and where to get decent speeds with SAMBA. Even FTP gives me the same slow speeds. Odyssey works without any trouble and is rather fast accesing the Internet (5 to 6MB/s without any problem).

@jabirulo Thanks but nothing about slow transfer speeds (it's correct when receiveing from server). Raziel also observed slowness in the thread you pointed.

I haven't got any suggestions, but I do remember having slow transfers years ago. Actually, I think that the transfer rate for large files was okay, but there was a long delay between copying individual files. Really annoying when transferring a directory filled with many small files. Hans

@K-L Are you using SMBFS? Is it the latest version? If yes to both, then I believe there is a known-issue where SMBFS is really slow (so you might be better-off with an older version of SMBFS).

Yes I'm using the latest version. Where could I find an older version ? And what would be the risk ton install an older version ? Thanks.

@K-L
Older version here:
http://aminet.net/package/comm/tcp/smbfs-os4 Risks? None really, except it may fail to work at all, since new SMBFS was enhanced to (partially) work with new versions of Samba used since Windows Vista.
Basically try it & see. If it works, great, if not, then no loss.

Actually I was indeed using 1.74. Latest 1.102 version from OS4Depot is totally useless since it freezes after having copying 3 files. Under Morphos on my MacMini, I get excellent results (100Mbs).

That's probably because it's not using our SMBFS, but a completely different program (which I have a vague feeling the source is not available for, but could be wrong). Olaf is basically trying to bring our old SMBFS up to modern standards.
