Creating AmigaGuide files
Just popping in
Just popping in

See User information
Hi all,

I am looking for an AmigaGuide creator for OS4. I am playing a bit with GuideMaker but I was wondering if there are more.

I was wondering if it is possible to store screenshots/pictures in an AmigaGuide file? For explaining purposes.

Btw, a bit offtopic, but .. When will be possible, to just mark by mouse any text from AmigaGuide and paste it to clipboard, without any hacks like it was on os3 ?:)

So far as I know, it is only possible to put in a link to a picture like so:

@{" Project Window " LINK "ProjWin.jpg/MAIN"}

where the "/MAIN" is required. You can't do much but hit RETRACE after looking at the picture, but it does return then to the page with the button. It should work for anything MultiView can show.

You may be able to show a picture alongside the AG text using an ARexx script and the ONOPEN command.

Let us know if you find a good way.

I'm open for suggestions to improve GuideMaker, if it will result in people using it!
Alternatively, I've recently realized that perhaps CubicIDE could be set up as a good AG editor. I am going to order it on the first of the year when there is a promised one day price break.

regards,

Tom

I use my own "document creator", which generates documents in AmigaGuide, HTML & plain text format. Not released it publically, but I did write some docs for it a while ago...

I will give it a try.

Sounds interesting.

I come across a lot of information when programming and I like to store this in a guide file for easy access.

Honestly, you should buy CubicIDE.

you could make (with CubicIDE own module):

- amigaguide or HTML documents.
- translate .ct and make catalogs with simplecat module.
- Make Install script.
- Check the words with Ispell at the same time.
- .....

All explained just before use own module with different colors for syntax for install, amigaguide, install script,.. and a normal colors for the normal text.

and lots of more features (outside the programming domain).

Maybe too often sers think that CubicIDE is for programming. It's true but CubicIDE has also lots of possibilities for no programming amiga users.

Please all buy this program ASAP...

I can also recommend CubicIDE. It's much more than just a programmer's editor!

Got it. That is one part I really overlooked. I am going to have a go at it tonight when I return.

Thanks.
