Just wondering if the performance is ok or if something is wrong with my setup.
Transfering 400 MB (in one file) from a PC to my Sam440ep takes 30 min over local network (wired) with Amiga Explorer to RAM:. If I choose my work partition as target (an SSD) it would take 2 hours 11 minutes. Is this performance standard for Sam440ep (533MHz) or should I expect it to be faster? Is network performance faster on a later Sam or X1000?
Network transfers are greatly slowed down (on all platforms) by SMBFS. Unfortunately, there's little that can be done about it too.

@xe1huku I don't know if Amiga Explorer use smb or some other protocol. Or some private. But basically, as Rigo said, transfers are slowed by huge protocol on top of TCP / IP - like Samba.
Speed of pure TCP/IP transfer on my Sam440ep 666MHz is: 11130 kB/s = 87 Mbps ( measured by TCPSpeed against fast Windows workstation )
Only solution is to try other protocol. FTP could be faster. If you will wait week or two, I will test transfer with smbfs on my Sam440. Just now part of my computers and monitors hidden behind Bethelem
AmigaOS3: Amiga 1200 AmigaOS4: Micro A1-C, AmigaOne XE, Pegasos II, Sam440ep, Sam440ep-flex, AmigaOne X1000 MorphOS: Efika 5200b, Pegasos I, Pegasos II, Powerbook, Mac Mini, iMac, Powermac Quad
Dont think its using SMBFS but TBH dont know. I think I tried running an FTP server on the SAM a couple of years ago but file transfers between PC/Sam where so unreliable - I failed to transfer my MP3 archive of 30 gigs :)
I thought I could fill up a USB stick with files and transfer that way but USB is very slow also.
One idea could be to fill up a HDD with files and transfer directly by hooking it up to the Sam, lets see if it works.
I have a Sam440ep mini-itx 666Mhz (not a flex) and i tried to copy an iso file of about 700Mb from my Macbook pro (mid-2010) with bigsur using smb both on amigaos 4.1 and osx. I copied the file not into the ram because my system has only 512Mb of ram so i copied to my download drawer. I copied the file from the shared folder using the copy and paste function of the workbench and it took about 10 minutes.. I don't know if using Dopus is faster than WB. I have to try..
I think there is something going on with my Sam440 though, occasionally it slows down a lot, like if I chose a file and deletes it, it takes 3-5 seconds just to get the yes/no window to open and while the file is deleted the whole system freezes. Deleting a (a small) file takes 30 seconds when the computer behaves like that.
I have not tracked the problem down, but I think thats why it took so long to transfer the file. If I reboot system it is fast again, however I have not found the trigger that slows it down (and got no clue where to look other than user startup and wbstartup).
