@ktadd Sweet, I will try that!

I think there is something going on with my Sam440 though, occasionally it slows down a lot, like if I chose a file and deletes it, it takes 3-5 seconds just to get the yes/no window to open and while the file is deleted the whole system freezes. Deleting a (a small) file takes 30 seconds when the computer behaves like that.

I have not tracked the problem down, but I think thats why it took so long to transfer the file. If I reboot system it is fast again, however I have not found the trigger that slows it down (and got no clue where to look other than user startup and wbstartup).

Dont think its using SMBFS but TBH dont know. I think I tried running an FTP server on the SAM a couple of years ago but file transfers between PC/Sam where so unreliable - I failed to transfer my MP3 archive of 30 gigs :)

I thought I could fill up a USB stick with files and transfer that way but USB is very slow also.

One idea could be to fill up a HDD with files and transfer directly by hooking it up to the Sam, lets see if it works.

Poor network performance on Sam440ep

Hello,

Just wondering if the performance is ok or if something is wrong with my setup.

Transfering 400 MB (in one file) from a PC to my Sam440ep takes 30 min over local network (wired) with Amiga Explorer to RAM:. If I choose my work partition as target (an SSD) it would take 2 hours 11 minutes. Is this performance standard for Sam440ep (533MHz) or should I expect it to be faster? Is network performance faster on a later Sam or X1000?

Regards

Wow, just noticed the news that a Tabor will be 1200 euro for the motherboard alone, I am unfortunately out. Can understand the price increase and I doubt they will make it back what they put into it for selling it for 1200. However would much rather pick up another cheap second hand SAM in the future (they can go for as low as 300-500 euro).

I might get one depending on the price. I have a Sam 440 EP that I am very happy with but would love to add a second OS4 machine so that I have a backup for the future.

@LiveForIt

"Expect perhaps we have old compatibility list for 680x0 software on intuition base, but I think it was lost / deleted. (Perhaps someone hacked the site, probably not that secure.)"

I found the data on Intuition base by looking at an older variant of the website at the Webarchive page. http://web.archive.org/

Tried it on my 440ep, a bit slow but playable. How can I change graphics setting in SDL2?

I see, thanks for answers! Very nice to have a full PPC port. Why not mention it on the homepage ppaint.com? :)

PPaint OS4 questions

Hi,

I purchased PPaint on Amistore for my Sam440 recently. It runs great on my system.

Does anyone knows how to remove the third column that is added to the list of tools so that it looks more like the older version? I think the third column takes up space on the screen and I do not need those preset brushes.

BTW, is the OS4 version of PPaint on Amistore a PPC ported program or is it the 68k version made to work on OS4? Just curious but could not find any info about it when Googling.

Anyways, really great work, runs really smoothly on my low end 533Mhz system.
