I have a question about the graphics cards for the Sam 460 boards. So my really old setup is an AmigaOne 500/Sam 460ex with a 250 watt micro ATX power supply HIS Radeon 5450 Graphics card. This setup has worked for years no problems. Uboot 2010.06.05a. Yes, I have never updated the Uboot in this machine. Latest Amiga OS 4.1 Update 3. I also have Enhancer Sofware Release 2 and Enhancer Software Plus Edition installed. I have Radeon RX V2.12, Radeon HD 3.7 and Warp3DNova.library. I do not have Warp3D Nova bridge.library or Radeon HD V5.0. I was waiting on the new Enhancer Package to come out and will get that when it does.
Here is my question. Is the ASUS Radeon R7 240 Low Profile PCI-E 3.0 Video Card R7240-2GD3-L work in my AmigaOne 500/Sam 460ex (I know it is listed as a working card on HDLabs) but do I have the right Radeon drivers and do I need to update the UBOOT? Also, I want to verify it will give me Warp3d abilities. Also, is a 250 watt power supply enough for this card (I know the Sam 460ex does not draw a lot of power)?
I assume the card would work fine with the Sam 460LE motherboard I own since I bought it a year ago and has the latest Uboot and all that.

Your R7 240 will work - you have Radeon driver v3.7 and Warp3D Nova, no Warp3D. Nova Bridge is perfect for old Warp3D games ( runs over Warp3D Nova, very compatible ). It will work with R7 240 if you have Enhancer v2.2 ( W3DN v54 ). Radeon v.5 has video acceleration, it means that you can play H.264/720p videos with Emotion or DVPlayer. It will work with R7 240.
Your firmware works with R7 240, but I recommend upgrade it to latest 2015.d, it has many nice features, including RAM timing adjustment and booting from NVME and SATA2.
AmigaOS3: Amiga 1200 AmigaOS4: Micro A1-C, AmigaOne XE, Pegasos II, Sam440ep, Sam440ep-flex, AmigaOne X1000 MorphOS: Efika 5200b, Pegasos I, Pegasos II, Powerbook, Mac Mini, iMac, Powermac Quad
In my experience with SAM460LE, I'd use a R7 240 (Orland Chipset ) low profile but have some issues with Radeon HD driver 3.x, sometimes my system hold. When I'd update to Radeon HD v5 all works great and get better performance, tested with Warp3DNova and Novabridge working without issues. VideoDecoding hardware works great with 720p videos, HD videos need RadeonRX. In my experience if you have Radeon SI grfx card with Cape Verde chipset you can use RadeonHD 3.x without issues, but with other chipset like Orland, RadeonHD V5 works better, at least with SAM460LE.
Now I have an X5040, but when I'd use SAM460LE RadeonV5 driver for SAM not have GART enabled (RadeonHDv3 on SAM not support GART too), I don't know if today this feature is enabled. When this feature is enabled grfx card theoricaly works faster because enable caches for data transfers gfx card with SAM system. Other systems with PCIe support GART by default, its a limit only with SAM systems.
Thanks everyone for the input. I appreciate it. I will take all this into account and make a decision about what to do with this old AmigaOne 500. Or maybe I will save the card and put it in one of my newer unassembled machines. I not only have a Sam 460LE board, but I have an A1222+ as well.
