Spectre660 has released an Ubuntu 12.04 netinstall iso with the kernel 3.11.6 for the Sam440ep(-flex):

And he has released a new Debian 7.2 netinstall iso with the new kernel 3.11.6 for the Sam440ep(-flex):

You could also install Lubuntu with the netinstall iso. Lubuntu is very fast on weak hardware.

My Sam is partitioned and full of Amiga SW, any chance to try a live CD distro?

P.S. There is lack of repartitioning sw, in order to keep the existing data safe..(no, backing up on many DVDs and recopying back to new partition is not a solution)

You could always consider getting an external USB hard disk and use that as the backup you really need anyway.
