Just as well, Hyperion did not port Amiga OS4 to the playstation 3, Would have been a dead end.

Luckly you can decline in accepting the update. I still have the feature enabled on my "fat" ps3 but tbh, installing another os on the ps3 is pointless. Reason being, you dont get access to full 3d accelerated graphics.

Yeah, but if you decline the update, all the other services get disabled.

I don't get way you can't package the operating system as a game, way does it need to run the way Sony likes it too, Just think about virtual pc's like VMWare and HyperV, Parallels.

Think about it of course it would because it is not a computer it is a games console. So they are basicly saying if you want a computer go ahead but you dont get our support for it.

My PS3 did not let me go online until, installing the last update, are you shore you have choice?

That's not quite true. When I bought my PS3 it clearly said it will run Linux and other OSs, they made a selling point of it. By law they are covered with what they have done beacuse also when I bought it the small print read "subject to change". But morally this is very corrupt behaviour.

End result I will never buy another Sony product ever. It is like buying a fridge/freezer and 6 months later they decide they are taking the freezer away. Or buying a car and then 6 months later removing all the extras you paid for.

This is nothing to do with security but with pure greed of restricrting for content providers. Not only that they misled people by lies, saying they would NOT remove the capability. Sony are liars.

I don't see a problem with this. It's afterall a gaming console.

And comparing it to a car and a freezer is kinda strange. Because it's different to come to your house after 6months and taking parts off your car or taking out parts of the freezer.
