ContextMenus qualifier

Has anyone gotten the QUALIFIER-tooltype to work with anything but RIGHTBUTTON?

I ahve tried with QUALIFIER=MIDBUTTON, as the manual says (SYS:Documentation/Commoditied/ContextMenus.doc), but it's still activated with right button. I've tried MIDDLEBUTTON and other things I could think of, but nothing seems to change the right button behaviour.

Affirmative

Doesn't work with 52.3 from 4.1 either.
Seems to be a bug introduced a long time before

it work the other way around,
the qualifier disable the ContextMenu,
so pressing the qualifier and the RMB you get
the normal menu, so it's better to use a qualifier
like LCTRL or something similar and not MMB

Not true

from the readme
Quote:

Syntax: QUALIFIER=<input event qualifier>
Location: Tooltype in ContextMenus.info

Qualifier that will call ContextMenus i.e. will display the popup menu.
The standard qualifier is RIGHTBUTTON. If no mousebutton qualifier is
specified, RIGHTBUTTON is assumed. Mousebutton qualifiers are
MIDBUTTON, LEFTBUTTON, RIGHTBUTTON. Besides that, any qualifier can
be used, like left alternate = LALT etc.

If it works as you suggests, than this whole paragraph is completely misleading, which i doubt

I wonder if a "open center" qualifier exists...

Testing shows that it does work as he says. The QUALIFIER disables the context menu. The paragraph is not just misleading, it's completely wrong. Not only that; it lists 3 possible qualifiers as though they were the only ones available and then states that any qualifier will work. The author gets a big DUH?? for this doc

So it really should be UNqualifier?

It seems rather silly to me. Since it comes as a system tool, I really think that it shouldn't override normal behaviour with unstandardized behaviour. Even more so considerigng that it isn't properly localized (standard menu items should really use the localized strings. Custom items would ofcourse be custom.).

@thread

If you press any qualifier key (shift, ctrl, alt,LAMIAG,RAMIGA) at the same time as the right mouse button you get the standard workbench menu instead of the context menu.

So I don't think the docs are inaccurate. Haven't tested whether the qualifier entry works for me yet or not.

[edit]
No can't get the qualifier to work here either[/edit]

localizing ContextMenu it'a a bit difficult being it completely
user configurable.

Regarding the qualifier, for shure the documentation it's
at least misleading, but once you discovered how it works
it's not so bad

Please explain how you think it works, then give an example of how you got it working....

I have LALT in QUALIFIER TOOLTYPE, and it work this way:
clicking the RMB alone I get the ContextMenu
pressing LALT+RMB I get the WB standard menu

Strange. Almost any key on my keyboard seems to act as a qualifier to bring up the system menu instead of the context menu. Some keys (function keys) seem to have a bigger delay. If I click a function key and immediately the RMB I still get the context menu. If I hold down the function key for a second before pressing RMB I get the system menu. It doesn't seem like the QUALIFIER is worth setting since any button will do.

can it be due to the fact WB implemented pseudo icon selection on key press ?

Just a guess but holding a key for a period of time puts it into autorepeat mode, in a sense autorepeat is a qualifier as well.

Anyway you confirmed what I thought. By any interpretation the QUALFIER option is broken, and inactive.

Umm, I noticed CM acts strange when using 'SilverGreen' theme, but otherwise normal with my other themes. Is this theme having any influence with ContextMenus?

the only issue i get with sivergren is that menus are not sticky, this can be fixed in gui prefs.

Hi @broadblues

'Pop-up Menus' is all 'ghosted out'. This nice function of CM is disabled in 'SilverGreen' for some reason. Gak, I hate using 'drop downs'! CM works fine with other themes.
