Radeon 9250 on x1000
Just can't stay away

We all know the x1000 pci slots run at only 33mhz. 128bit 9250 cards are marginally faster than the 64bit variants.

I have seen Goos use a pci-e to pci adapter and a get very good speed with a 64bit card. However the adapter is very expensive. His success demonstrates that the x1000 pci slots are a bottle neck which hold the 9250 cards back. Given this I presume that overclocking the 9250 cards would offer no benefit? (Is this even possible on AmigaOS?)

My question therefore is, can anything be done to improve the throughout of the x1000 pci slots?

Quick answer... No.

I've tried a 128bit 9250 in my X1000 and it was dreadfully slow. I would not risk tinkering with the pci slot speeds if you even can, it's a far too expensive mobo to mess with (unless you're rich and can afford a couple of spares).

The only thing I would suggest is to trawl ebay and amazon for a used PCIe to PCI adaptor.

I read that thread too, he didn't used PCIe to PCI adapter, he used a PCIe to PCI-X adapter, wich allows a faster bus than 33 mhz

Got myself a 128bit 9250. It has made a big difference to the 640x480 Hardware scores. Games are now smoother and playable.
