From what you wrote it seems you didn't read the readme?
"To initiate the server : in a SHELL, type "prboom-game-server -s 3" (s is for skill) or double clic on its icon. To start the clinet : in a SHELL, type "prboom.exe -net hostname" or enter the parameters in Start-PrBoomGL-os4 script."
Internet-prefs has nothing to do with this.
Each player needs a client.
edit:
Okay I tried this between me, connecting to localhost. The client only does stdout, waiting for game start. Maybe the server needs configuration - does not seem to read stdin - or it's plain broken.
no, i read the readme file and did a lot of test with another friend (Samo79).. But what I do not understand is, if the game-server is able to manage players over the net and not only the classic lan party..
And if it manages players over the net, I'd like to know how to conifgure our amigas to do this..
Internet prefs is usefull if you have to configure the hostname of your machine (in case of a lan party i guess). Btw I guess you can use the hostname or the IP address..
About multiplayer with PrBoom tonight (me and NubeCheCorre) we reach a great step forward !
Now we can be able to start PrBoom via LAN (not via internet yet because some badly config in our router to check) and even using different machines (AmigaOS4 and Windows XP in our case)..
Only problems:
1 - PrBoom for AmigaOS tend to crash once the game started on both machine, but the 2 machines can communicate each other during game !
2 - We need to understand why the game doesn't work yet over Internet, so of course the router config must be check
If the crash still on the Amiga version i think we must ask Huno for a proper fix, let's see
Confirmed, LAN network works perfectly, i connect a Windows PC to my Sam440 using the same version of PrBoom and the same WAD file, however once started the Amiga version will crash instantanely !
