Strange symbols showing instead of date
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hello,
Just returned to the amiga. OS 4.1. Got myself an amigaone 500 and loving it.
Anyone any idea what is causing this problem.

If I open a window like multiview, It displays fine except the date on the far right of each drawer/folder has some strange symbols but no date.

Thank you

Hi and welcome to Amigans.net

Do you use the english local? If not, can you try in english?
Also a screenshot could help as I don't understand why you talk about Multiview (a file reader) and drawers.

Thank you,
My first was an A1200 which I put in a tower and added loads of extras but then it went downhill with commodore.

But you know what, I installed amikit on my mac and wow what have I been missing.

It is a steep learning curve but I retire from work in 5 weeks time:) so plenty of os4 for me.

My guess is he was talking about the file requester, which is what appears when you start Multiview from its icon.

So, electric-magic, you say you changed your Locale language, and the problem disappeared? Which language was it set to before? Because normally I'd expect more or less any language to show dates in a file requester okay, i.e. in a way which resembles a date in other languages (month names may be different etc., but at least the numbers should look the same).

So unless you had it set to a very "exotic" language, something else might be playing up as well.

Best regards,

Niels
