@Jack I'm sorry I still don't get it. We say good luck in the UK just as a way of saying "hope everything works out well for you - a way of saying we wish you well! Is it the good luck thing you are querying, or have I misunderstood? Rude!

if i say things in Aussie slang ppl wouldent get what i was saying half the time
