I was re-installing Samba today using my own guide when I spotted a few broken links and a reason why it hasn't worked for some people in the past. With thanks to Mike Woods at ANT I will be making a couple of changes to the English OS4 Guide.
If anyone has any other suggestions for inclusion please shout now. I probably won't be re-updating it any time again this year.
Did you already started ? I have on my HD a semi complete french translation of an old version. I'm not sure I kept a backup of the original files (stupid me!!) so I might not be able to update accordingly :-/ Anyway if you are interested I can already provide you with my current version.
Yes I know, I am working on the site as much as I can, but I also want to add support for MacOSX too, so its taking a bit longer. I hear its impossible with Windows Vista, but I am gonna give it a go and see for myself.
In the meantime, copy the smb.conf file and then take out all the spaces between each word, then re-format it back. its a tab/space issue thats causing the problem.

Just in time! I finally seem to have update 1 sorted out here. And I have overcome the hurdle of rebuiliding two WinXP boxes at work. Since I've never finished my last attempt at Samba on my A1, it's about time I get everything connected here at home.
I hope you find a cure for the Vista (64??) problems as well as any which might exist with Windoze 7(64). I have one of each here at home, and would like to be able to link to both of them with my Amiga.
Looking forward to your update!

Does the extended delay (10 days) means there are more changes than first anticipated ? If there is too many changes I don't know if I would be able to update my translation soon.
BTW would it be possible to version your guide either by adding a version number or at least a revision date ? Would be easier to spot which version one has on its HD.
I wasn't lucky enough in the past with this guide so i end up using amiganetcenter with success. But it works only with xp. Vista, 7 and osx 10.5.8 ppc they can ''see'' the share in the network but they can't open it and access files.
Great work Mikey, i ope to be able to install this package again when i have time.
Its an awesome step-by-step, just dont let it go, mate, ok?
Thumbs up
