Regarding the right click, I tried with a version of OWB and the right click works but not much else.
Did you try my AmigaOS3.9/m68k port of OWB, and/or the first AmigaOS 4.x OWB SDL ports from Andrea, as well?
Both should be based on similar Pleyo OWB versions.
Someone mentioned my AmigaOS 3.9/m68k port of OWB (unlike my AmighaOS 4.x ports it's just a straight 1:1 port using SDL, without any additional features like a GUI, address bar, or anything else the Pleyo OWB didn't have either, added), which can be used on AmigaOS 4.x as well, is working very well with Browservice.

Theses older versions, based on Pleyo, lack too many features compared to the 1.23 release.

Personnaly I have tried all the released versions (yours, Andrea's and Kas1e's ones).

I did not try the 68k version (well I tried but did not manage to make it work without any problem) but I'm pretty sure it will lack some features like tabs for example.

Honestly, the most feature complete is the 1.23r5.

to download archive, and extact it with CABEXTRACT (https://www.cabextract.org.uk/)
After unarvhived, copy verdana ttf to the path the error/warning message said ($HOME/.browservice/appimage/fonts).

New videos (with browservice.js from Walkero)

I added this option when launching browservice to start directly with 95% JPG quality : --vice-opt-default-quality=95

(But you can still modify it within the browser, I set 80% manually for Sam460)

On X1000 : https://video.amiga-ng.org/w/joezrrsDjhGTRxoVCRA1WC
On Sam460 : https://video.amiga-ng.org/w/oUg7T39TDDrbkNjjMLJ3wP

I have also tested the whole thing under Windows and the server starts successfully.

Browservice.exe --vice-opt-http-listen-addr=192.168.2.211:8080

However, when I connect under AmigaOs4.1 with...

http://192.168.2.211:8080/

Odyssey then also opens a tab with the name Browservice. But I have no text field to enter anything.

In Browservice.js I have also inserted my IP, I am at a loss.

That was the trick it works How did you solve the update problem ? The pages via Browservice are constantly updated.

You wrote that you changed everything to jpeg because there are problems with png.

It's great to be able to use modern websites under Odyssey including the download function.

I think I did everything the way I understood it, and it works well. The pages open very quickly via the browser service.

I recorded how it works for me, and here you can also see if I set it up correctly. You'll have to rethink things a bit, as I use my system in a different language.

At the end of the video, you can see a few problems:

1. I can't download files. The download is displayed, but when I click on it, it just disappears.

2. As soon as I keep the mouse pointer in the address bar, Odyssey updates all the time. The same thing happens in Google search. If I move the mouse pointer away, it seems to work fine. Do you have the same problem?

@walkero

Thanks for the Browservice.js script. I'm not sure if it's working as it should at the moment, but thank you anyway.

There should be nothing than just this : https://git.walkero.gr/walkero/odyssey ... nch/master/browservice.js

I dont know what you used to download it but it won't work with what I se in your video.

The only line you have to modify:

It seems I used the wrong script, and yes, it works now. However, with the Browservice.js script activated, it slows down a bit again.

I was mainly interested in the download function, but it doesn't work on my machine.

Nevertheless, thank you very much for your help.

I don't see where you try to dowload something in your video.

It works flawlessly whether it is on X1000 or Sam460.

Try with OS4Depot first.

You can see it in the video here at 5:06. I'm trying to download the SDK add-on via Browservice... Browservice shows me the download, but after I click on the download button to confirm, it just disappears.

Or do I need to do something else?

Also, when the script is activated, I don't see a mouse pointer within the Browservice interface, just a text cursor. It's quite possible that the Windows version of Browservice simply doesn't work any better.

I have a little more time tonight and will show you again in another video with the Browservice.js script activated.

Regarding the refreshing trouble with Odyssey 1.23r5, I finally got rid of it since Classilla users had the same problem (see https://github.com/ttalvitie/browservice/issues/96 ).

So I followed the instructions given (https://github.com/ttalvitie/browservi ... 6#issuecomment-1483911555)

Move the AppImage in an empty directory.

From this directory, type this :

./browservice-v0.9.6.4-x86_64.AppImage --appimage-extract

mv squashfs-root/opt/browservice/retrojsvice.so squashfs-root/opt/browservice/retrojsvice_orig.so
sed
-'s/var bodyOverflowHiddenNotSupported = false;/var bodyOverflowHiddenNotSupported = true ;/g' squashfs-root/opt/browservice/retrojsvice_orig.so squashfs-root/opt/browservice/retrojsvice.so

Launch browservice like this (modify the command to suit your needs) :

squashfs-root/AppRun --vice-opt-http-listen-addr=0.0.0.0:2571 --chromium-args=use-gl=desktop --data-dir=$HOME/.browservice/cefdata --show-soft-navigation-buttons=YES --start-page=https://www.google.fr --vice-opt-default-quality=95 --vice-opt-http-auth=USER:PASSWORD

And voilà! No more problems with mouse cursor, slowness (browservice.js slowed donc the experience) and constant resizing of the page.

I opened an issue for the next release : https://github.com/ttalvitie/browservice/issues/158

Latest (and last) video : https://video.amiga-ng.org/w/d7sB8hsyzCj99LTJGNYNqR

Everything is going fast (browervice.js slowed down everything), the display is not blurry anymore (browservice.js was resizing the image displayed and yhe image was blurry).

Pointer is also now working correctly.

And no more refreshing/resizing of Odyssey's window.

It's even faster than Wayfarer MorphOS on my PowerMac G5 2.7 Ghz.

I think this is for now the best solution to be able to use a modern browser with AmigaOS 4.1.

It's the perfect solution for them

Here, the user is stuck on Linux x64....it works on Windows (Arm), but unfortunately with limitations. Downloading doesn't work, mouse pointer problems.

I tested it further on modern Linux distros (ARM) Ubuntu/Fedora and failed here. Apart from that, it's not really user-friendly.

Nevertheless, I agree with you that if you use this setup 100% and are successful, this is currently the best solution for using modern sites, including the download function, under AmigaOS 4.1.

What I don't understand is: where do you fail ?

Skynet had no problem making it work.

You setup seems a little bit too... strange.

Ar you trying to use your Mac Studio with virtualization of Windows ARM or Linux ARM or Linux x86 (which is emulation and not virtualization)? If yes, I can understand all your problems.

A simple Raspberry 4 would be way easier for you. I'm using a Mac Pro 2013 with Linux Magaia 9 and everything works as intended. If I had not this setup waiting to be of some use, I would have gone the Pi4 way.

Honestly, except the part to get rid of constant reszing window (and BTW, you could also simply spoof as Classilla and it would work), there is nothing else to do than launch the exe on Windows or the AppImage on Linux.

Problem solved

I have to use exactly the browser service version 0.9.6.4 that you specified, and then the download function works.

It just didn't work with the latest version 0.9.12.0 of browservice
that I used every time. And yes, I use Windows ARM (virtualization).

Sorry, I was a little frustrated yesterday after countless tests to get it to work.

It's great and I can now download everything directly with Odyssey, no more switching back and forth to my Mac. I'm leaving the Browservice.js script disabled for now as it causes too much of a speed loss.

yeahhhhhhhhoooooooooooooooo thank you
