I had a look at that a few months ago and I saw that it doesn't have any code for Big endian systems, nor for PowerPC, and it is all 64bit-based code. I am far more than an expert for all these but it seems it needs a lot of work to port it. That doesn't mean that someone could not work on it.

If I would do that, I would try to make it work first on a PowerPC-based Linux system and then work on a port for OS4.

The problem is is there Qt language on AmigaOS4? and other NG systems like AROS and MorphOS, because he explains in his web that is the language used to compiled the browser for Linux.

But this version must be too old I presume.

Edit : there is even a forum here on Amigans : https://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=38

I think that the AmigaOS4 fans must support better to Edgar Schwan and his work with AmiCygnix, because are good solutions, the other, well, reading the site I don't understand what he doing and for what? well, only that he makes another Linux distro, that he needs money for support to his family and that he make a browser using Qt, but I know for example that some Qt ports from Linux don't work fine on other systems, for example the SMPlayer on Linux works fine but on Windows 7 not, perhaps for the Qt version, and this will be the same problem for AmigaOS4.

Thanks for the reminder. I tend to forget about AmiCygnix and software that runs on it, because I prefer "fully native" software, and AmiCygnix is a *nix X windows environment. It does bring us some useful software...

And we have to thank Eric for his time, enthusiasm and dedication in bringing things to AmigaOS4 even if he is going through Unix.

It’s not exactly Unix, its library is compiles for PowerPC / AmigaOS4.1. the X11 UI feels a bit alien. I like QT but so far not lot programs use it. I believe QT supports Unicode unlike other Amiga GUI’s, the plugin system is sheard objects (SO files), however, I know some people are not fan of that. But so is true for other X11/Unix/Linux stuff.

I don’t think its QT that’s the problems for instabilities.

If the Ladybird could be ported I believe the proper way to do it would be to get rid of the QT parts and use only the webview. Reaction or MUI can be used to build the browser and make it feel proper AmigaOS application.

I would be more than glad to see someone working on it.

That will break UTF8/16 support, better to keep it as QT5,
(when new elf.library is released.)

Remember you need to maintain it as well, if need 1000 of changes everytime, there is a new version it will be quite painful to keep it up to date.
