I think the problem can be reproduced by deleting the opengles.library... if the library is present on system, then scummvm will starts, but if not present it should theorically switch to MiniGL and finally if even this library cannot be found (or used) scummvm should fallback to software mode...
In this case it does not and if opengles is not present then the program just refuse to start...

You don't have to delete the libraries right away, you could rename them so that ScummVM no longer accesses them.
But the idea is not bad, so you could reproduce the whole thing.

It seems this issue can be worked around using --gfx-mode=surfacesdl switch.

I have now also started ScummVM with this option, then it immediately goes into full-screen mode, which, however, has a black output.

Do you still have "software" selected in SDL2 prefs?

Does window mode work? Maybe fullscreen was opened in 32-bit.

Try to replace libsdl2-2.26.so with libsdl2-2.26_debug.so (remove "_debug") in application's sobjs/ directory. Then run Sashimi in another window and start ScummVM - or start ScummVM first and use DumpDebugBuffer command. Hopefully you can collect serial logs.

Sorry I had it on OpenGL, changed to software and tested again.

I have entered it in the .ini:

gfx_mode=surfacesdl
fullscreen=false

And tested with it now. No window will be opened.

I followed these instructions and started DumpDebugBuffer after running ScummVM.

It is enough that they help, it will certainly take some time to find a solution.

You and Capehill are doing a great job, together we will solve the problem.

I will test this as best I can with your instructions to minimize the sources of error. Sure I could use ScummVM under my Mac, but that's no fun for me, I want to use it under AmigaOs4.1 and also test it. And if we solved the problem under Qemu Pegasos 2, it is also solved under WinUae

Thanks for your help and support.

I have just tested ScummVM on WinUAE (16-bit screen mode). It works for me both in window and fullscreen mode. But at least for the first time you need to use --gfx-mode=surfacesdl to work around the GL error and to get that ini file. And getenv SDL_RENDER_DRIVER must return "software", otherwise you are going to need some patch.

Sashimi: http://os4depot.net/?function=showfil ... lopment/debug/sashimi.lha

It should be simple to use in window mode or you can redirect output to a text file: "sashimi > log.txt".

It seems something went wrong with replacing that SDL2 shared object. SDL2 archive has 2 shared objects, the larger one should be named _debug and it should have serial logging. Both shared objects are installed to SOBJS: if you ran the SDL2 installer (you can copy them from SOBJS: to local sobjs/ directory). So you can check the names and file sizes in your local sobjs/ directory.

Damn it works yeahooooo

Started via the shell with "--gfx-mode=surfacesdl". SDL2 Prefs settings "Software"

You made me happy a second time, very good work. Is there also a way that I can start ScummVM directly without using the shell and command?

Should I still debug it?

ScummVM QemuPeg2

I wanted to run the game Blade Runner, but ScummVM tells me that no "engine" was found. I used the last compiled build of Raziel. Do I still need to assign the engines to ScummVM?

Once you get it running and scummvm.ini file, you can put gfx_mode=surfacesdl in ini file. Maybe also setting it in the GUI works, but I didn't test.

If you cannot make it work via icon, then there is always a possibility to run a script using icon.

That error message means that the bladerunner plugin is missing.

ScummVM runs perfectly once the configuration is set up. In fullscreen mode it is a bit slow due to the lack of 3d support, but in windowed mode it runs really well.Thank for your help.

Could you test a special build for me, please?

In the usual place is a test_surfacesdl.lha.
It consists of a scummvm installation w/o any plugins (though you might be able to use the ones you already have).

You need to start scummvm WITHOUT the .ini file present.
It should create one (hopefully this time without a GL crash) and show the launcher.

I compiled a special version that sets gfxmode to surfacesdl when creating a bare .ini file.
You will still need to set SDL prefs to Software, but it shouldn't crash anymore and you should be able to start and use scummvm again without the need of a cli command.

Thank you for the feedback

Good job !

The first start of ScummVM is executed in fullscreen and the .ini file is created, about the Gui I can then set all the settings that are needed.

I can't use plugins with this version even if I set the paths to the plugins from ScummVM that I already have. But it is not a problem since this is a test version.

I'm looking forward to the next version, thanks for solving a few problems.

Again a short video how the whole thing runs under Qemu AmigaOs4.1, I just wanted to tell you that the 16 bit mode (software) was not a waste of time and even complex games run well. Of course no comparison to 3d acceleration. ScummVM supports many good games and I'm glad I can use it, thanks again for that.

Your latest pre-release build 18.05.2023 is now running perfectly, the first time you start ScummVM the .ini file is created and the full screen is started. All settings work and adding games and running them works very well.

Good job thanks
