Clock problem on my AmigaOne X5000

Hi

Yesterday I changed my AmigaOne X5000's battery for an old one. After replacing for the original,I am noticing that after turn off Workbench doesn't save the time and hour. This was by another thread in which someone recommneded me to buy a new battery in order to power on only one time not two.

Why this? Can anybody help me to have the correct hour on Workbench?

-did you use the same type/model of battery ?

-did you set the correct time after installing the new battery?

-did you make sure you installed the battery with the correct polarity? i.e +/-

I had exactly the same problem a couple of months back when I changed the battery in my X5000.

The new battery doesn't really sit well in the compartment, it feels very lose.

I did manage to get it to sit better, but I think in the end I just got TimeGuard to work properly so the clock gets updated on boot, although this now relies upon the presence of a network.

Make sure you are using CR2032 battery. Is that the battery you are using? Maybe this new battery is not good, it happened to me before, maybe get a new one and a good brand.

I think is the same model/type of battery (Maxwell).

I don't have a new battery, but after changing for an used one Workbench doesn't set correctly the time and date, that is a problem.

No,I am not sure what is the used battery polarity.

Maxwell should be okay, any brand except Chinesium. I go with Duracell or Energizer.

Quick question:

Did you set up your clock in the Time prefs? Did you enable NTP Time Server in Advanced Options? Does it look like this:

I think you are from Spain, so you should use es.pool.ntp.org for NTP Server.

I hope this helps.

brands that levellord mentioned are fine. By polarity I mean to make sure the battery is installed in the correct position…on my X1000 positive side is up but not sure for the X5000 so make sure the + side on the battery holder is in line with the battery .

Good advice you give me 328gts but after having my AmigaOne X5000 unusable yesterday for more than 5 minutes,I prefer for now to touch nothing, after touching the battery and releasing a red tiny plastic piece from its place

In reality no because his Time Prefs window must be of Enhancer Software and I don't have this version.

ok to confirm, you changed the battery with same type/size, made sure it was installed correctly i.e properly seated and correct polarity (+ to +).

You booted up your system and adjusted the correct time and Time Zone in Time settings/ Locale (If I recall) and clicked save before exiting.

Yeah I tried to install it correctly logically properly seled and + up and - down. But I am not sure if it is well bacause I have to press the power button 2 times to boot the AmigaOne X5000's boing screen.I am in doubts really.but I tried my best.

Yeah I ran the Time Prefs and afjusted various times the time and date because since I changed battery days deadjust several times randomly.

Hiya @MamePPCA1

You said in the other thread that red piece fell off which was located near the battery. From my system, I can see that it is a CPU JP3 jumper, please see below:

Resized Image

Can you confirm that you returned jumper to it's place, and if you did not, can you let us know?

Can somebody confirm the red jumper on their X5000 is located at the same place as mine? I do not want to suggest something to MamePPCA1 and that to be wrong and result him frying his machine somehow.

MamePPCA1, just wait until someone can confirm this and if you did not place your jumper yet, before you do that, make sure your machine is turned off, power supply switch is turned off, cable is removed from power supply, if you have carpet in the room where you are working, make sure you have some gym shoes and before you start messing around the motherboard, lay hands on metal case of any other computer which is connected to the power outlet, metal radiator or something metal.

We can take a look at your battery issue after this.

I hope this helps!

Yeah it could help of course but the reason I buyed yesterday 13th June the battery was to fix the problem of turning on in two times. The clock issue is important but less.

Hope someone could help me with the double press to power on the AmigaOne X5000 in one time,is very important forr me to have the machine in perfect state.

can you please say 'yes' or 'no' if the JP3 red jumper is still on the MB the exact same way in the picture above

I think yes because otherwise the Amiga 5000 would not function.
