Recommend a cheap-ish Case please...

Hi Guys and Gals.

The Sound/hardware on my SAM 440 EP motherboard is faulty, so I have purchased a Soundblaster Audio card (dual 3.3v & 5v) which is OS4.x compatible.

Anyhow, I need to find a decent new case as the existing one has no PCI output slots. (Slimline type case)

So, can anyone here recommend a stylish case for a SAM 440EP with PCI rear slot that isn't Cube shaped?

Preferbly under £50 ukp.

Cheers!!!

I just ordered one of these: http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mini ... encio-series/silencio352/

(406 DKK at proshop.dk, so I assume it would be findable in the UK at a similarly reasonable price.)

It hasn't arrived yet, so obviously no real recommendation can be made, but it looks nice enough. I'm planning to rehouse my Sam460ex in it.

Best regards,

Niels

Just trawl round amazon.co.uk and look for anything cheap, I've had a nice jeantech case for £15 inc. delivery from there, got my flex in it atm.

Just search for micro-ATX case in computers price low to high. sign up for a months free prime and get free delivery on a lot of them (and free return for any reason if you don't like it).

Ps. I hate the new amigans website. <shudder>

I moved my 460 into the case this weekend, and everything went pretty smooth. I can't connect the case USB cable to the internal headers (J12 or J13), if I do, the keyboard (in the top back port) is not recognized in UBoot, so I wouldn't be able to select my boot partition (a must when you're beta-testing ).

But I don't believe that's the fault of the case, but rather a general problem with the 460; I think it was like that in my previous case as well. I don't use the front USB ports that much anyway.

Apart from that, the side covers do rattle just a tiny bit when the two fans are running; I'll have to see if I can do anything to reduce that. But everything else is fine and dandy. There's lots of room to work inside the case, and it looks nice and discrete when it's closed.

Best regards,

Niels

Interesting.

Do you have an SD card mounted in the internal reader? I do, so maybe that is what interferes for me (as the system sees that as a USB device). I never thought about that possibility until now.

Case looking good. How is the size compared to a x1000 tower?

it's two usb 2.0 and one usb 3.0

so os4 see them as usb 2.0

I'm talking about the built-in SD card slot on the underside of the Sam460ex motherboard.

But if you didn't realize that, I guess you're not using that either.

Bottom line, that might possibly be my problem. I'll have to try removing the card from there next time I open the case, and see if it makes a difference.

Niels
