my ?A1-C uboot version is 0.1.1. And I want to install AmigaOS4. I have downloaded the new firmware from the web, but it can't work.
Does somebody give me a firmware file? I want to flash the file into the chip directly.
Please send it into my E-mail.

It sounds like you've downloaded it from the main UBoot site.
That won't work.

You need to download the specific Amiga U-Boot firmware from Hyperion's website.

You can't do it, the binary image is not available. The Flash ROM contains security code and has to be flashed by the Updater program that comes with the firmware that you downloaded from the Hyperion website.

If it "didn't work" for you, please be more specific so that people can help you. If an update has failed and left the ROM unusable, you will have to get a replacement ROM from a dealer or someone who knows what he is doing.

If someone with a working flash chip and had a programming kit, he could copy the chip to a file, send the file, and this guy could program that with his programming kit. I once copied my XE chip this way to fix a motherboard that had a bad flash chip, to make a new blank chip boot the thing. (That was an XE so I can't help here, and that was years ago and I've since lost the file and don't know where my kit is just now)

If he really does have uboot v0.1.1, it could be one of the old write protected chip & would need to be replaced anyway. No idea how to tell though.

Good point. There was a test program that reported whether the rom was protected, but I haven't seen it for years. I would expect that the Updater reports if the ROM is protected, and it may be reporting that, but without the full story, we'll never know.

@billt

Yes, but you knew what you are doing and had the tools. I have a flash programmer too, but it's not much use to this fellow unless he is prepared to send me (or someone closer to him) his ROM chip.

Hi @sundown

Yes, that was original UBoot delivered with this A1 in April 2003. I had to get the new flashable UBoot chip from Compuquick, Ohio.
