It used to work well with IBrowse... then they "improved" it.... It used to work with the OWB brothers... Apparently, they "improved" it again...
From what they say, the website uses some sort of "lazy" image loading. The page loads OK in the RA/MUI OWB, but the graphics for most of the articles don't load.
I used to be able to hit the gear button in the top title bar to turn off the lazy image loading, but now that doesn't even work anymore. Previously, the screen would turn black and pop-up panel that let me turn off this BS, now it won't even do that.
Anyone have any tricks that might get this site working again? ....or is there something that could be done to MUI-OWB which could fix all this?
I really don't want to use my godforsaken Mac to use this website.
One thing you could try is delete your cookies and load the site completely fresh...you said there were so many changes to it latelk the site might have lost track of them in the meantime and/or some of them are being still written by the site but wrongly interpreted.
Maybe I wasn't clear about the two problems I've been encountering...
First, the "lazy" image loading. This problem manifests itself from the second or third article in the blog on down, where you see a article title (in large blue text) and then a white space and a few paragraphs of text...
That white space should be a picture in most articles. In both OWB and MUI-OWB I encounter this problem. The "lazy" image loading isn't working.
Second, in the black horizontal bar near the top of the page there is a "button" with a gear icon in it. One should be able to click that to set the preferences for the website. In those preferences you can turn off the "lazy" image loading. This is the website feature that used to work that no longer does.
Now when I click the gear in either OWB or MUI-OWB it does nothing or just shows a pop-up "hint" telling you what the button is. In the past, when you clicked that button, the page would go dark and white box would appears with settings to configure.
As you suggested, I tried running MUI-OWB with the "cookiecollection.db" file moved away. It made no difference with the problems of this website.
With OWB, I have an old script that copies OWB to RAM and runs it from there... So cookies never get saved back to the disk.

Ah, ok, i wasn't scrolling down enough...
I am afraid this image loading on scrolling down is NOT a problem of this site but rather something OWB/OWB-MUI can't handle.
Just go to google type in "Amiga" and switch to IMAGES... scroll down and you'll see what i mean, on page 3 or 4 OWB will stop loading in the thumbnails, instead it will show lots of grey matter
Setting the "lazy images" to off all the pics gets loaded down to the bottom
The "Popular News Stories" on the right hand side down a little bit still doesn't get loaded, though

Boing...no idea about that one. It works right from the beginning here, no problems, i can change settings as well
But if both OWB and OWB-MUI refuse to open that one you might have a setting in both that blocks that litttle window
Have you tried installing a completely fresh instance of one browser (like OWB-MUI) and only load up the site to see if the pop-up works?

Err, did your script also changes the cookie tooltype of OWB?

Anything else you guys can think of or suggest?
Thanks!

The only thing that springs to mind (and after that i'm really am out of ideas) is that you could either clear your cahe or override it by clicking CTRL+F5 while on the page.
That will load in the site completely new...see if that helps
This image lazy loading thing at google image, youtube and this site is a regression in WebKit that was fixed about a year ago (between r66666 and r71312 from what i can remember).
It's fixed since one year in WebKit (and thus OWB MorphOS). But the port of MUI OWB you have is based on OWB MorphOS 1.9, dating from august 2010, which is why you have this bug.
I started up MUI-OWB, waited for that page to load and tried the gear button, no go... I did CTRL-F5 as you suggested, the page flashed, (presumably) rebuilt itself and then the gear worked!
I needed to reboot and I fired up MUI-OWB again and it all went back to not working... I tried the CTRL-F5 thing a number of times and it wouldn't get the "gear button" working ever again.
BTW, what is CTRL-F5 supposed to do?
I tried deleting the cookies.db file again and re-running MUI-OWB, but that did nothing (again).
So I decided to reinstall MUI-OWB from scratch to see whether that would fix things... Nope. CTRL-F5 again did not help.
That "gear button" remains generally dead... Except the once in a blue moon functionality.
F5 is generally RELOAD the page CTRL+F5 means RELOAD the page and don't care about the cached page (say, it completely reloads the whole thing as if you never ever visited before)
Strange that it does such things for you... Do you have by any chance a Proxy Server running?
Two more things you can try 1) SETTINGS: Tab CONTENTS: Drop the ticks on "Page Cache" and "Content Blocking (AdBlock)" and reload the page with F5 or the RELOAD button 2) SETTINGS/SPOOF-AS: Set it to either FF3.6 or IE 8 (My setting is Default which is some kind of WebKit clone, i think) and try to load the site and use the gear again
EDIT: I see what you mean now...yes, that little gear can be a b*tch sometimes
Be sure to wait until the WHOLE page has been loaded (mind the little flashing lights on the bottom right [MUI-OWB]) and only AFTER there is no traffic anymore click ONCE on the gear. It takes some time (even on my "fast" XE) to blacken the site and open that little window.
If you got a slow cpu it might even time out...who knows?
Re; CPU & page loading - Since I've (very rarely) gotten the gear to work in the past, I've tried all sorts of timing with clicks - while loading, after loaded, from inactive window, multiple clicks, keyboard "clicking:. I didn't see any pattern of success.
hmmm... But I'm cautiously hopeful. I tried two changes: I'm spoofing as FF-3.6 and I turned off the "experimental" cookie system. After loading the page, when I CTRL-F5, then the gear button has worked.. twice. Once and again after restarting MUI-OWB.
