@Rigo

I have PtPlay library V2.6) installed, from 29.04.2008. AmiUpdate finds also version 2.6, but from 2009-12-14.
In the package description I get a:

"PtPlay library (2.6) - %s - etc"

What about this "- %s -" ?

Thanks!

hmm, statement of intent says

Quote:

isnt that what what aros/AfA os does?

not trying to discuss mod decisions here, just...

This is everything I exactly also thought! Thanks, Raziel.

@admins

Sorry, but this has not been a very fine and friendly way. You should have at least informed the users, who are affected by it, before! And: Why so mysterious: "After getting feedback from our users"? Why not discussing it in a thread before? Why did those users not gave their opinions in the comments of the corresponding news?
You cannot delete something without having warned the users before! Sorry guys, but you messed that up!

Ahhh, okay! I see.
After having manually installed version 2.52, you have again access to the amiupdate server.

works now, but the link to the release notes of v2.52 does not.

And the update is not available via AmiUpdate itself.

And AmiUpdate.net as well...

@Petrol

I had version 2.49 installed and jumped right to version 2.51.
But if I remember right, AmiUpdate showed only version 2.50.

Works fine here.
But you should fix the date in the readme: 06.04.2024...?

@kas1e

In the description of the OS4Depot archive, you should mention, that Filer is required and provide a link. Since this is not part of AmigaOS 4.

Well, as I read it, it is just the motherboard...

I would have suspected that an Early Adopter customer will get the A1222+ with case etc. for 999 Euro. That would have been a slightly tempting offer...

Okay, thanks.

But maybe generally, this is also the right way for OS4: not a full, but fast and slim web browser which does not have to support "everything"...?

For example, I would do without YouTube (and any other video), but would like to have a browser which supports HTML5, CSS und JavaScript.

Just stumbled upon this project:

Besides the OS4 browser project, could that be another approach...?

Re: PiStorm - can PPC for classic Amiga make a come back?
Just popping in

Already some time ago, I was in contact with Claude, developer of the PiStorm, because I had overheard, that somebody had AmigaOS 4.1 running on a PiStorm, although very slow.

Unfortunately I have not managed it to get a direct contact to that guy, since I wanted to ask him to write a little review and maybe some kind of tutorial. So I started trying to compile QEMU for ARM for myself but did not have the time to pursuing the matter...

I only have a Pi 3B and I could imagine, that this is far too weak for such an emulation...

@LiveForIt

Mainly we do not know, what plans Ben has. And, if he has any future-oriented, positive OS4 plans at all...

Regarding emulation: I think it is a good starting point for any user or developer who just want to get a first impression of AmigaOS 4 in an non-expansive and, this is important, easy way.

Although I am not quite convinced that this "new branch" will give us a big glut of new developers, since: this has been already possible using WinUAE and, yes, also QEMU.

Better colour depths and screen resolutions may be important for gamers. But for developers?

I think first of all, there has to be Hyperion's commitment to further development, or at least any honest assessment of the situation and a (possible) preview to the coming development.

Sorry, I am not.

The "ordinary user" has not seen any kind of OS4 update for...ages!
It is fine for you, if you can play with updated components but what we need are official updates for all!

That aside completely, that there is not any kind of information or public relations from Hyperion side. This is sad.
