Re: New Site Feature: Themes

Is there a possibility to save the theme preferences so that they are stored until I log in for the next time? I'd like to always have klesters-theme, without having to change the setting each time. Thank you!

Yes and it would open OS4 to new markets! I believe OS4 is ideal for these small devices because it is a small and very responsive OS that doesnt need many resources.
Much better than to run Winblows on a small device, it will only crawl!

If OS4 will be released for Mac Mini, I will immediately buy a used one. They are even relatively cheap because everybody else is only looking for the Intel ones.
Mac Mini simply looks stunning and I would love to have one on my desk that runs OS4.

So it might still turn-out alright, but the court battle better move pretty quickly.

@joerg
You have to remember that there is a lot of legal posturing going on between Amiga Inc & Hyperion! I think & hope that once a decision is reached on the ownership of OS4, then both sides will start acting reasonably again.

But until then both sides want to ensure that they get the best deal in court

@MikeB

For what it is worth, AOS4 on the PS3 is to me vital. Missing this opportunity would be criminal. With AOS4 quick booting small footprint, and sympathy from Sony itself, it would be an ideal point of expansion for both systems.

Now we are running X server, we can even outgun Linux on such a system (Yellow Dog is complete overkill).

Amiga HW could also fill in the gap for a domestic server, a much needed device. plus as a standalone for the community.

The PS3 makes an ideal entertainment hub for domestic video and music streaming, so forget the idea of the Games console and TV, rather console, monitor, speakers becoming hubs spread throughout the house and used for anything digital (the price is only high at the moment).

@Curty

I also got a WiFi card running in my A1200. But I only got 3.1 version of the OS. If you would like to support it I'll be more than happy to help out.

It is the Friedens and the other OS4 developers who have been working hard on Amiga OS during the last years!

So I wish THEM all the best. Maybe Hyperion looses in this lawsuit. But this doesnt mean that the Friedens will go down the drain with them, because they are not employees of Hyperion. I think there is a future even if the Friedens sign a deal and work for Amiga corporation in the future.
Who should rewrite the OS4 parts the other OS4 developers did, or replacements for the contributions included in Hyperion's AmigaOS4 releases, in such a case?
As long as Amiga Inc. doesn't accept the rights of the other developers it's very unlikely anyone would even want to work with them, and reimplementing everything from scratch by other, uninvolved developers, who don't know anything about these parts, would take a lot of time.
Without Hyperion and/or (a large part of) the other OS4 developers there is no way there will be anything running an AmigaOS4 which is even remotely comparable to the current version, at least not this year, and very likely not next year either.

I agree with the sentiments that you have expressed in your post. What is Hyperion about? The people!

Actually I already commented on the disagreements between Amiga Inc and Hyperion here at Amigans.net and on AmigaWorld.net. So maybe this shouldn't have come too much of a surprise, although I was hopeful they would have been able to settle things outside of the courts.

To confirm the earlier note that PS3 would not carry the PS2 chip in Europe

With the latest firmware updates the EE chip is almost as good as rendered redundant. All major PS2, PS1 games are well supported by the PS3 and with upscaling and smoothing options can easily be considerd a superior option in comparison to the original consoles, especially for the HDTV owners but smoothing also works with ordinary TV sets. DVD upscaling is now also supported, amongst many other improvements.
