I'm quoting a post from amigaworld.net, in the hope that we may hear some interesting information on this new filesystem.
Quote:
I want to create an entry in Wikipedia about JXFS... Can someone from Hyperion (Rogue, where are thou?), or any experienced user could indicate the main specs of JXFS? Available Blocksizes? Maximum partition size? Filenames, longfilenames? Metadata? Is it journaled or not? etcetera... Thanks in anticipation Also a few questions from myself:
1. Will there be recovery and repair utilities avaiable?
2. How much faster than SFS will JXFS be?
Thank you Joerg!

@jahc best thing is to wait until it gets released and then do some testings :)

@Rogue Excuse my ignorance... but what is a Gold Master, please?

@NotYo It means the master disc has been finalised. In other words, the duplicators have there master copy, and it's nowjust a matterof time until user CDs hit the streets. Simon

@NotYo "Gold Master" is actually a common term in software publishing. It refers to a CD-R (as opposed to a silver production CD) because in the past, the material that CD-R's were made of was golden, and so the CD-R was very visibly different from the "real" thing. The term someone stuck, and you will often see "software XXX has gone gold".

@Rogue Also... Is Python updated in OS4.1? (IIRC 2.4 was released with OS4 Final) Also, is the Python OS4 SDK still being worked on? I don't have a machine to work on at the moment (for obvious reasons) but that would be my most wanted feature... of course just having Python itself with some Amiga related libraries would be good enough. Alex.

@NotYo
Don't trust previous definitions, they are all false, the truth is that "GoldMaster" is the one that educated the famous GoldFinger before the not less famous James Bond's episode !
... of course this is just a small witticism
... And yes it has recently been re-broadcasted
Back to a quiet home... At last

@DBAlex Python was always 2.5.1. And right now, I didn't do anything but try to get AmigaOS 4.1 out.

@Rogue Ok cool...! Well 2.5.1 is quite good anyway. I'm sure OS4 Python libraries will come one day. The "real" SDK is probably more important hehe, but of course well done for completing 4.1... I probably can't begin to understand how fustrating that must be - I have enough trouble trying to focus on my (miniscule in comparison) projects, without other people trying to decide the future. Alex.

@all *BUMP again* Since there's still no JXFS entry in Wikipedia, IMHO a stub entry might be added now, while we wait for some more detailed info. While we are at it, the SFS entry should be updated, too, to add a reference to SFS2. Varthall

@Varthall If you want to know something about SFS, SFS2 or JXFS you should ask joerg.
