Software News : Project: TIMBERWOLF - Bounty for already in progress AmigaOS 4.1 port of Firefox

Project Timberwolf

Finally the port of one of the most wanted software packages for AmigaOS 4.1 has been tackled! The well-known AmigaOS developers
Hans-Joerg Frieden and Thomas Frieden have been hard at work for quite some time on a fully AmigaOS native port of Mozillas'
Firefox webbrowser!

Because of the unrealistic terms and conditions of the AmiZilla bounty, it was decided to start a new bounty only for AmigaOS 4.1 and beyond. Thus this bounty is in no way related to AmiZilla.

Timberwolf is the project name of the AmigaOS port of the Firefox web browser (for legal reasons it cannot be called Firefox). Firefox is an
award-winning open source web browser and is the de-facto-standard browser across a wide variety of operating system, taking second place
in popularity after Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Its features include tabbed browsing, support for HTML 5, ECMAScript 3.1, and CSS 3,
extensibility through addons, and a lot more. In short, Firefox is the most complete open source browser to date.

I like OWB but Firefox coming to OS4.1 is like Gretzky coming to play for your hockey team

Or for us Americans, like Micheal Jordan playing for your basketball team.

Though in an ideal world I would really like to see a modern IBrowse, it looks as if it is never going to happen

This is good news, I can lay my MiniMac to rest if Amiga OS has a decent browser. I only turn on the Mac if I find a web page that cannot be used in IB or OWB.

No money ATM but I *will* be donating in the next couple of weeks

Bill.

No. OWB displays most pages fine.

Hardly ever. Most browsing is done in IB, a few things I sometimes use OWB, and VERY RARELY I have to use the Mac.

By the time the Mac has booted I have surfed a few pages and got in all my emails using the A1

Despite both Mac and A1 having identical processors the Mac is just so S L O W to use. Not worth switching on most of the time !
