Hardware News

Bassano del Grappa, 24-Jun-2009

ACube Systems is pleased to announce a new change in its Sam440ep-Flex product line: the new Sam440ep-Flex board running at 733 Mhz that replaces the 800Mhz version (now out of production). This one has a RAM clock running at 147 Mhz, instead of 133 Mhz of the Flex 667.

The suggested price for this Flex 733 is 410 euros (excluding VAT and shipping).

Sucks in my opinion. Seems like an admission that the 800MZ board is flawed and had to be slowed down. Where does that leave the current 800MZ board owners? The Hyperion Quickfix might have fixed the graphics corruption on screens and windows with 1G memory installed, but now I have massive graphics corruption in the OS4 splash screen if I boot from the preboot screen (The one that opens if you hold down the Help (Scroll Lock) key during a reboot).

it is not certain that it means that the 800MHz CPU:s are flawed, it could just mean that they are not getting enough CPU:s through their testing to meet the demands and need to lower the speed to 733MHz to get a higher volume.

i assure you that is not a problem of 800mhz mobo. We are trying to understand where is the problem but is not an hardware problem. that's for sure.

Notice the 733 Mhz model also has a higher RAM speed.

What this looks like to me is that they were able to get a faster model of the CPU itself, and discontinued the overclocked version.

Do you think that version @ 800Mhz will become a collector version ?
