![]() @Chris,
Well, thank you to Mikey for bugging you about posting updates. Youi've made some really nice progress on Netsurf. Downlaoding, window sizing, tabs working nicely Nice work Chris. The only problem I've found in the limited use I just gave it was that it would not let me log on at amigans.net. So I had to go back to another browser to post this. edit: Two days later, I had no problem logging in here. So it's not a Netsurf problem. Yay, Chris! Paul |

![]() How do you set the resolution of the screen it uses? Right now it defaults to such a low-resolution screen that it's practically useless.

http://www.cmkon.org/ On OWB the text is readable, not in Ns or IBr. Thanks for the update ! |

Love to, but I don't have one and can't remember what's new! @Valiant You'll need to set screen_depth as well. @Ricossa I know. If you set your default charset to Greek you'll probably be able to see it though. |

maybe. i was considering changing the use_workbench thing to use_pubscreen:pubscreenname The screen_modeid needs to be in decimal, or x followed by the hex value. It's really there for when I finally sort out an options gui. an asl screenmode requester will show you the id numbers i think |

Poster: PEB??Posted: 2008/12/15 7:10:37 I want to be able to use my monitor's maximum resolution (1280x1024), but if I set the above to anything other than 640x480 I get a screen lager than what the monitor displays and I have to use the mouse to scroll to the edges. |

I'd set it to 32, but it seems ignored, I had to setup a screen in screens preferences to have a 1280x1024@32 bit screen, on a XE-G4 AOS 4.1 Radeon 9000pro |

Make sure there is an empty line at the bottom of the options file if you're adding things to the end. |

![]() How hard would it be to add scroll wheel support? I -really- miss it when it's gone.
![]() I suppose you know the transparent backgrounds (alpha channel?) still aren't rendered correctly. Wouldn't it be better to make 'use-workbench' the default? Or at least make the default screen bigger? Is there anyone these days whose monitor can't do at least 1024x768? Just some thoughts. Thanks for the update! |

![]() Wheel support isn't difficult, i just haven't got around to it. I'll probably add it when i fix the keyboard handling.
Alpha channel - waiting perpetually for new SDK. The default is a safe option (remember there are people on OS4 classic using this too).. maybe I should make wb the default - the install script asks for screen dimensions now . This is all going to get fixed when I sort out a GUI for the option anyway. |

![]() @Chris,
Very nice. I see many improvements from an earlier version I downloaded. Download feature is very nice. Most of the sites I visit are fine. amigans, net I could not post immediately. Had to hit reply button on one of the previous comments. --- redfox |

![]() Hi Chris,
thanks for NetSurf. Works better than the previous verions (rendering & stability) Still crashes on, e.g. http://www.saarbahn.de or http://www.stern.de (both crashes: perhaps due to some popup windows?). Oh, and please add for file downloading, the url of a file as a comment like in IBrowse ![]() ![]() Thanks, nexus :) |

Both of those sites work here (the first is a mess though as it uses frames). Were you having problems with any particular pages? Can you get a crashlog? The URL-in-file-comment thing I added ages ago, shortly after the very first release IIRC. If it isn't working for you I'd be interested to find out why! |

![]() this is really strange!
netsurf immediately causes a system freeze on these pages. You can see that some browser windows open (therefore my comment about popup windows) and then everything is frozen. Mouse doesn't work anymore, you cannot switch back to workbench with ctrl-n, etc. No GrimReaper, no error message. Just a freeze. I have a SAM440ep&AOS4.1 here and SFS2 installed. Netsuf is freshly installed (no update over previous version) and runs on its own screen: 16bit,1440x900. No file comment here as well (with IBrowse it works). If I can help you to debug that problem, please let me know how ![]() nexus |

Are you definitely 100% positive you are using r5911? (check in Project => About) If so, try running MemGuard at the same time. I find the odd freeze in websites stops happening when this is running (doesn't really aid in debugging unfortunately, I must be writing to unallocated memory somewhere). The other thing you can try is hooking up a serial terminal to capture debug info. Also copy the whole caboodle to RAM: and run it from there. Had a few odd crashes when I first tested this on the SAM, which didn't occur when it was run from RAM disk. |

I never could get NetSurf running satisfactorily by changing the options file so I just reinstalled it over the AmiUpdate install and it then worked correctly. |

![]() sorry, for late reply.
yes, it's definitely r5911. About-Window says: SVN 5911 (14.12.2008). It's a fresh install (not an update over a previous version). I download MemGuard and will see how it works ![]() Will do some tests from ram: as well very soon. nexus. p.S. just another problem. tried to download abiword with netsurf. after a while, i got the error message that there was a problem during writing to file and the download was canceled. |
