Can Say this is a very good news, especially for the AmigaOS4 future development...for OS3, well not so much... from what is said, the agreement provides that the sources of the latest revisions (3.1.x/3.2/3.3) will be returned to Amiga with the exclusion of the code backported from AmigaOS4 (for example ReAction but not only this!)... basically only original code and bugfixes... OS3 future development risks going back to being a mess

Yeah, imho that bad news for OS3. Hyperion coordinate and deliver well in past years despite anything else one may dislike and it sounds (at least for me) that 3.3 can be the last one, and after it will back to some 3.1.4 version which whatever-else-involved with will do nothing with.

Great news the war is finally over ! OS3.2 is rock solid and hopefully we can get more stability (Trevor/Amigakit vs Hyperion) with OS4.1 moving forward

Great news. Fingers crossed that this agreement works out.
I currently use AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 3 and AmigaOS 3.2.3 under emulation. --- redfox |

Yeah, I guess you guys are right about OS3.
I went directly from AmigaOS 3.1 on A2000HD to AmigaOS4 on MicroA1. I never had OS 3.5 or OS 3.9 or whatever else came out before OS 3.2 so I don't know what I missed along the way. For many years I maintained an AmigaOS 3.1 emulation on my OS4 system, but it was strictly for 68000 CPU software and some old favourites. I purchased AmigaOS 3.2 and ROM chip intending to upgrade my A2000HD but decided to try AmigaOS 3.2 under emulation first. Never did upgrade the old A2000HD machine. Since then, I have updated OS 3.2 with all the public updates. I run AmigaOS 3.2.3 in full screen mode on e-uae on AmigaOS 4.1 FE Update 3 on MicroA1. So, when I launch e-uae, I get a full screen AmigaOS 3.2.3 Workbench. I added MagicMenu and ToolsDaemon to give me minimum "bells and whistles". A few days ago I tried my old AmigaOS 3.1 emulation and realized that it is missing alot of software enhancements which are part of AmigaOS 3.2.3. --- redfox |

Sounds good, please let’s focus especially on Mirari, OS 4.2, A1222 now.

Hi Everyone!
This is great news. We finally have the legal stuff behind us. I read the agreement myself and under definitions b. "Additional Hyperion CPUs means ANY CPU architecture (including the PowerPC CPU), but excluding the 68k". I believe Hyperion just got the right to port AmigaOS 4 to any CPU Architecture except 68k. Which means ARM for example. Don't misunderstand me, I love POWERPC and I will be fine if we stay there but this agreement opens the door to more modern CPUs for AmigaOS 4. It took a long time to get here and I am hoping that A-EON (Trevor) and Hyperion (Timothy) can work together and unify the AmigaOS 4 code with A-EON Enhancer Software hopefully in AmigaOS 4.2. Great News for AmigaOS 4! Yogi |

Could they do the same as they have for OS4.1, and have OS 3.3 Update 1, and OS3.3 Final (final) Edition (this is actually the final one) Update 8, etc? (edit: I read elsewhere that they only have until the end of 2027, so that can't happen) |

Please concentrate of OS4.2 and give OS3 a back seat. We need to look forward not to the past. I never understood the attraction for people sticking to OS3, move on.
Please fix the X1000 CFE so that it does not take half a day for a hard boot.

@BillE
They can't fix CFE because CFE is in Trevor's hands, and he will only fix anything in it when (if ever) he wants to, or if he finds someone who is willing to fix it and, with his approval, release an update. You may remember that I recently made all sorts of patches for CFE that fixed many things (including Radeon RX support, faster boot times, etc.). I just didn't finish turning it into a complete, "reflash-ready" CFE. I also got in contact with Trevor, and he was interested in seeing progress made on CFE. However, when I said that if I were to work on the real sources instead of binary patches, I wanted to be able to release it once it was finished, without having to wait for anyone's approval or be controlled by anyone, I never received a reply after that. So, realistically, forget about an official CFE update. The only possibility is a third-party update, like the one I'm currently working on. |

Without his approval, that doesn't help if the sources are his asset.
Like the updates for the Sam from A-Cube, no problem paying for it. |

I do use your patches, the SATA and the vga_init at every boot and the cmds and keycon I load manually if using the cfe. Occasionally the vga_init fals but works most of the time.
Sometimes I cananot boot fully to WB and am not sure if it is the cfe patches or the online serial driver. Any ideas? Thanks for the well appreciated effort you put in, the loading of the kickstart files was an almost unbelievable improvement. I am amazed at how one person managed in a few week what the OS developers have been saying for years was 'impossible'. I am really looking forward to your third party reflashable CFE. One request. Is it possible for a patch to swap the alt/amiga keys like the original CFE did. You now have to totally load the OS4 before you can do this which cause no end of problems. The keys are not swapped when you use Linux and rebooting the OS from the boot menu befor the OS is started mixes up the hard and soft reboots. Even now the last thing you want to do is get a full hard boot instead of the much quicker soft one. Thanks for all your work in making our X1000s useable and not a chore to boot up ![]() |
