Software News

Today we learn about archimedeans figures.
The 13 Archimedean solids are the convex polyhedra that have a similar arrangement of nonintersecting regular convex polygons of two or more different types arranged in the same way about each vertex with all sides the same length (Cromwell 1997, pp. 91-92). Also exist 2D figures for example Cairo pentagonal....
Everyone sleeping??? No! OK it's my fault. Better play my new game and by the way learn something new!

Maybe someone know HTML 5 entanglement game, which good work also under OWB. I like this so I create something similar. I can't compete with gfx from that game but I try do my production with better playability changing and adding different features. In my game roads has less density because are used pentagonal tiles, so it should be better visible, also double road edges add to game more strategy.

You can download game from here:
OS4Depot
Here is screenshot:

Try my game - for only Amiga OS4 - and decide in comments (or donations) if want more different boards, or maybe achievement system in future. Good luck!

To keep people's attention (I wouldn't have realised it was about a game unless I read to the end!!!) I strongly suggest reversing the order of your paragraphs (so nice pic near top & boring technical stuff at bottom), AND change the news title to something that mentions "game" and does NOT mention "math" or "lesson" (how to scare people away!).

 Re: Time to math lesson
OK, first impressions: I find this MUCH easier to understand than the unfinished version you let me try before. The manual is almost unnecessary! The only thing people really need to know:

Goal of the game is to link the road(s), so that they are as long as possible. Scoring system is a little more complex than that, but that is all you need to know to get started. (Manual really ought to say this at the top.)

The left/right mouse button hints (sadly not visible in screenshot) are very helpful.

Graphics are nice, and the few sound effects add good 'solid' feeling to the game. Unregisterd end of game message is amusing.

No math - no game :)
Hmm, but some different introduction is better then schematic news (for example if prevent from future question and giving tips about used tiles shape), I think. Anyway my game is full of mathematics calculations, now worst coding part is finished and I can have fun scaring Amigans by releasing game using news suggesting looking for calculator !!! OK, players, take it easy - this game is fast and simple, try it!!!

Thanks for positive opinion and review. Score is good designed. It promoting strategically filling board and not fly away over million points. Score is explained only for the curious - typical player no need analysing formula except last tips in manual and precalculated score on screen.

Sure, but the user never *sees* any of those calculations, nor needs to *know* any of them, so mentioning them just seems confusing & potentially scare people away (game=fun, but maths=not fun for most people). At best, I'd only mention them at the end of the manual (not in news!), in a "obscure technical info" chapter.

All 3D games contain many complex maths calculations, but normally these are never mentioned to users...

@ChrisH: When I read about edutainment the first thing I think of is, will it scale to my capabilities so that it isn't too easy, or far beyond comprehension.

 Re: Time to math lesson
Just tried this and it's very intuiive to play right away, runs very smooth and quite fun to play for a good a quick break from a boring work report
I personally like these puzzle type games so thanks for your efforts in bringing it to our favourite OS. I would like to see as many new boards/ backgrounds as possible. Donation sent.
