airprint.device status

Just wanted to give an update of the current situation of the airprint.device.

As of this moment the program autodetects printers trough mdns protocol, and I have now been able to print trough the printer.device successfully. There are still a lot of work to be done and time to be spent before I can release it, but some good progress anyway.

As mentioned in another post, printer.device use a gs interpreter which is old so I need to update this one with a newer version.

Still working on converting raw text to graphics, so this is not finished.

So much to do, so little time πŸ™‚

Should work with almost all network printers. But not usb printers.

I have Epson, Canon and HP envy printers and works on all of them.

...and a new gs Interpreter?
Maybe the crash on multiple page prints will finally go away too

Yes It would be much appreciated if some of you guys are able to test before releasing, but need to implement some more functions first. More testers, the better result for the end user..

I'd jump the tester train immediately...unfortunately work starts soon again, so i won't be much of a help.

But rest assured i will bother you once it's released

When you say most any network printers should work, I take it that means a wireless printer connected to one's home network?

I have a HP Smarttank Printer connected wireless to my home router.

Would be nice if I could print to it.

Your printer is airprint ready, so should work, if this is a multifunction printer/scanner, You can download airscan on os4depot. If it find your printer and you manage to scan, it will also work for printing with airprint.

a few followup questions, if i may?

The HP LaserJet M140we should work with both airscan and airprint, correct?

I just tried airscan from OS4Depot (without having a supported scanner) for the fun of it and it completely froze my system while scanning for supported devices...i guess it shouldn't do that(?)

The reason i was trying the program was that i wanted to know which save formats are supported (jpeg, and?)
There is unfortunately very little information on your website and none in a (not available) readme inside the archive

I guess it uses (picture) datatypes, but could it scan into pdf?

Thanks a lot...i may gift myself with the above printer/scanner for being a pita all year long

It does PDF as well.

I just did a test of this AirScan in my last video and saved as .PDF.

It works nicely.

Of course in my video I 1st have a issue with my printer scanner going offline but in the end of the video I show it working and saving as a .PDF.
