Hellow everybody!
I have made an xml installer. Unpack the arc in ram, and then put the file Catweasel_20100925.lha in the same drawer. NOW! Good luck

Strange, I can't see anything in 1541-Handler MakeFSSM() routine that would cause crash... You did add a space between "FLAGS" and "16", right?

Quote:

Flags = 16
Startup = "DEVICE catweasel.device UNIT 0"

The flags option here is doing nothing as it's used in a "handler" mountlist. Fortunately the "flags" setting of 1541-Handler defaults to 16 so you don't need to set it.

I strongly recommend switching to CBM1541FileSystem however as it fixes several problems with this filesystem.

ok using the CBM1541FileSystem now...wb boots up fine but still not seeing my 64 disks (though drive appears to be working reading the disk properly)..

Do you have the preferences set correctly? You should probably have the respective unit set to "5.25" High Density" unless you're using a really old drive (40 track single sided).

What happens when you use SuperDiskImage to read a C64 disk image? Lots of red blocks? What about when you try to write a disk image?

If nothing works, can you send me a sashimi log please (be sure to use the debug version in the archive!)

@MH2:

Brilliant! I'll take a look later, but very many thanks for your work on it!

Take a look at the d64 in a hex editor and see if it seems correct. Or for that matter, send me the d64 and I'll have a look. You're definitely using the latest (25/09) drivers, yes? Make absolutely sure. :) If you're getting green lights, that means either I've accidentally put up a build using a test signal internally instead of data, or else it's reading the data just fine, checksum and all, and the problem is somewhere else.

Run sashimi, and show me the output. :)

@heupper

Does your Catweasel definitely work in any other machine? Is the cable definitely working? Have you tried connecting your drive to unit 1 (before the twist, in other words) and using unit 1 in SuperdiskImage and the prefs file? Did you go through all the steps I posted for you on the previous page? Could you do that and send me a sashimi log please? Remember to copy the catweasel.device.debug over to devs:catweasel.device or you'll get no log....

If your floppy drive isn't out of an Amiga, it's a PC one! You can tell by looking in the front of the mechanism for a density-select switch (the same position as the write-protect switch, but on the right instead of the left).

It won't be an Amiga HD drive - or if it is, you'd know about it! Apart from anything else (such as the hole in your bank balance after buying it), they're the wrong height.

Let us know how you get on!

Two 8580 SIDs in
TestSID.D64 working (Counts down and up and down and up )
Test Game working (Seven Cities of Gold) - although only the Intro as i have no mouse (yet)

That was the good stuff, now for the bad

1) A plugged in Amiga keyboard is ONLY useable if a CW (disk) mountlist had been started (that is, i.e. Amiga DD) otherwise the keyboard will simply not react to any keypress. I presume the same goes for plugged in mice?
Q: Could you change that so that the CW will be initialized without being forced to mount a disk?

2) The NOISE (soundcard) is unbearable. Every action on the screen is noisy as hell (just tried to move a window around - sounds like an ingame soundtrack ).
There is a constand noise of some "damp" clicking coming through the speakers aswell and yes, i have put the soundcard as far away in the PCI slots as possible. It sounds like as if all the PCI action is dragged through the speakers...loike some sort of bad cabling or such

Is there something you can do about?

I fiddled around with Mixer settings but i can only turn down the volume so the noise is gone, but music and sound output is gone aswell

Overall...great job so far

btw: The "touch" command is still in the Prefs

1) A plugged in Amiga keyboard is ONLY useable if a CW (disk) mountlist had been started (that is, i.e. Amiga DD) otherwise the keyboard will simply not react to any keypress. I presume the same goes for plugged in mice? Q: Could you change that so that the CW will be initialized without being forced to mount a disk?

i have no drive connected to my catweasel, and i can't get my amiga 4000 keyboard to work, this gives me some hope though.

Be sure to delete VICE.ini and start from scratch, there may be options set that actually mute the onboard hardware (like it was for me).

Start up VICE from Spirantho, you should get

Setting sid engine... 1
Setting sid engine... 1

start any game (preferrably one with sound in the intro ) and let it run

Works for me

Could you post a picture of your SID chips sitting on your CW?

As for the keyboard: Try to mount any disk (mountlist) from the package.
There is no need to have a disk in drive, the initialization of the CW chip should be sufficient ... i think

too bad that i have to mount a disk to get the keyboard working...yet

Oh and point 2) solved (for now)
Volume slider of CD in down to -37.5db and still sound (need to test CD playback though)
