I just started following the thread. Perhaps this has been asked at some point and I missed it, but does CW support Amiga diskspare device disks (980k disks)?

It doesn't... yet. Want me to put support in if I can? Can't promise anything as I don't have the documentation for how it worked (though I may be able to find enough on the net).

I just looked it up on Aminet. It looks as if Jorg Strohmayer may have been involved with it at some time. Perhaps he could point us to the sources? PM?

Ian, I think we need a dummies guide for the installtion of drivers etc for the MK4+ for OS4.1u2 Miggys as all the docs are for PC's

for starters I would like to know what current files belong in what directory..for mountlists I just need d64, d81, PC 5.25 HD and PC 3.5HD

thanks

I agree! That's why I've not done a proper release yet. I need to get a full installer working, so that people installing it can understand what's going on better. I think a lot of the problems that people are having are due to their not knowing how it should be set up.

Once I have an installer script going it should make things a lot easier.

As for the mountlists, you want PH0: for MS-DOS 3.5", and there's one for 1.2MB ones too in there somewhere (can't remember - I think it was OH0:). For d64 you need the CBM0: mountlist but writing doesn't work yet, and I don't have a 1581 disk drive so can't test that, I'm afraid. If anyone can lend me a 1581 or a C128, or sell me one for that matter, I can include support!

er - yeah, that's exactly it. :)

Is that a mock-up or did you actually write an installer?

I was going to use the standard Commodore/AT installer, but I guess I could use the Hyperion one couldn't I (if I can find enough info on how to use it...)

It is not so hard to make one, and there are NO
Doc:s how too do it.

It looks like this

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
<package name="Installation of catweasel.device">

<info>
My way too make an Installtion-script in AmigaOS4 style
</info>

<defaultpath>sys:</defaultpath>

<option name="Intuition" optional="YES" selected="YES" size="1137576">
<set>Full</set>
<set>GCC+Contrib</set>

<description>

</description>
</option>

<option name="Catweasel_20100919" optional="yes" selected="yes" size="14">
<file>Catweasel_20100911.lha</file>
<description>
A installtion of the device. Script created by MH2
</description>
</option>

<finish>
Installation completed.
</finish>
</package>

Then you need 2 pix, one to the background and one on the top.

New version at
http://www.retroreview.com/iang/Catweasel_20100920.lha

Some initialisation changes, a few twiddly bits here and there. Probably won't make anybody's installation work if it's broken, but you never know. Main change is that it fixes 3" 40 track disk drives, makes them seek properly on initialisation, so it now works with the disk drives from CPC 6128 (EME-156).
And a few other bug fixes here and there. :)

ok sweet success ...after good ol Amiga trial and error I managed to get unit1 seeing my old Amiga floppies and Unit0 seeing all my old 5.25 floppies ..i basically had to install the td1 and cbm0 mount lists into both my sys::devs/dosdrivers and sys:storage/dosdrivers folders to get the disk to read properly

funny things is I see the disk icons pop up on my workbench and can see all the files on the disk no prob but if I use the superdiskimage program i always get "couldnt open file error"??? ah well enough experimenting tonight as I'm overjoyed that I can read all my old disks on my Samflex...tomorrow I check dual SIDS in VICE

thanks for the help Ian

There was good news. But the really odd that you need too put the files in both Devs. And Storage... In terms PCI port have you set the catweasel hardwear?

Re: CATWEASEL MK4 PLUS

You don't need the files in DEVS:Dosdrivers and SYS:Storage/dosdrivers - you can safely delete one of them (make sure they're the same though!).

The 1541 mountlist doesn't fully work yet - you can read ok, but writing seemed to be ignored last I tried it. Will look into it properly soon.

As for SuperDiskImage... well, you've obviously not put a proper filename in the file gadget. :) Try just "ram:test.d64" and read a C64 disk, for instance.
