I am sorry not to understand that you are not a lamer !! :)
Seriously, I never noticed that. I have just lauch the old amitorrent and it is the same, ip=0. I never tried to use myself a value to -I. May be worth a good try.

Hello, sorry to hijack this thread, I see no need to open a new one.
I have some issues with ctorrent 2.2. I downloaded it from os4depot a few days ago and since then I'm trying to use it without success. The torrent files are ok, since the very same work with transmission (os4depot) and bittorrent or transmission on my mac. By "work" I mean it actually starts downloading stuff; ctorrent just allocates the files on the hard drive but no download takes place.
A further problem is the Prefs Tab, it just shows a tab-filling Pause button, nothing else. Is it supposed to be that way?
If the torrent files do work on other bittorrents i don't see why it shouldn't work with ctorrent. The only thing that comes to mind is that the ports might be blocked. Checked this?
The prefs tab is only a pause button. There are prefs options, but only to be set from the tooltypes in the icon.
Yes, the closed ports could be problem or may be you must be patient. Downloads don't begin always fast.
But, I can tell you some more. Sometimes, your downloads will be never started because of the sites. 1 For example, if the torrent come from a private site even if you download from a public site (like mininova). In this case, you must register yourself to the privale site and re-download the torrent file.
2 Your ISP can block your connection or corrupt the transferts. You can google for it for more information. For example, I can tell you that the ISP named tele2 (in sweden or denmark, don't remember) blocked the torrents from piratebay. My ISP is tele2.fr and it blocked my torrents. So Ctorrent creates my files but the download doesn't begin. But you can examine the torrent with the -x option and see if alternates sites have been chosen. If yes, you can download with the -u option.
3 I did this remark too but I don't have a satisfactory remedy. Sometimes, with big torrents (big file or big number of files), if you stop the download for a moment and start again, the download doesn't restart. The only solution is to delete your files and redo the download.
Voil?, I hope i give some useful advices. YesCop

My company haven't blocked my ports. I've got speeds at over 1,1mb sec with ctorrent. But the speed also depends on popularity and speed of the ones who has it.
I am not sure of the country, but as you can read these news on the net (due to a judgement), I want to be clearer. Tele2 blocks the connection (not the http protocols) from certain sites like PirateBay. For me it is the case, I can'( download from this site (except if there are alternates trackers).
Hope your downloads last forever...

I have the ports opened in my router/modem. The odd thing is, the download starts with Transmission on my Sam and on the very same Sam ctorrend does not start the download. Even after 8 hours. I am not using both applications simulta. 1) I start ctorrent, wait 30 minutes nothing happens. 2) I close ctorrent, wait some seconds 3) I start transmission, after 10-20 seconds it starts downloading. 4) I close transmission, 5) open ctorrent again and after 6 minutes nothing happens (besides the long delay of checking the preallocated file integrity? at startup). 6) same steps as in go to 2) to 4) 7) Reboot machine, strart ctorrent, wait some time; nothging. 8) Reboot machine, start transmission, after some seconds it starts. 9) Reboot machine, strart ctorrent, wait all night; nothging.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong.. As I said, the same .torrent file on the same SamFlex approx during the same hour (some minutes delay) on the same day.
I also tried to delete the preallcoated file and restart the torrent a new. and also to download ctorrent from os4depot again unarchived to a different partition with the same results.
edit: if it helps, after playing with the ToolTypes, I set LISTENPORT=2500 and now the log says: Quote:
warn, couldn't set bit field refer file "Work:Applications/www/CTorrent/Active Torrents/FreeMegaGamesArts_Adventures.torrent": This is normal if you are seeding. Listening on 0.0.0.0:2500
When you create a server, you create Socket on port X the local port will be used for incoming communications, as long as your server as reserved the port, no other application can use it.
If you have one or more programs communicating over the same ports you might run in problems, I believe Ctorrent uses a number of alternate ports, so it should not happen.
There exist tools to scan ports to check if port is lessening for incoming traffic, you might look for tcp port scanner or something on google.

Mmh AFAIR there is an exclusive assign for each port, since this silly router does not allow a range (except the factory side preconfigured ones) to be defined; so there might not even be an overlapping. I will check nevertheless. Thanks for the tip!
Besides once to test it, I did not use two torrent clients at the same time. Maybe unlikely but in case the ports are assigned to a specific software and retained in some cache by the router itself, I will just take it from the power grid and unplug any cable and see if there is any difference once plugged in again..
Just uploaded version 2.3 to the depot. Still in upload page.
If you have experienced no downloads, just timeouts then set the ALTNERNATETRACKER tooltype. Just check in ctorrent output what numbers it displays as alternates, and try one of them.(example: ALTNERNATETRACKER=5)
Changes:
Added tooltype to set download path(happy now kicko? ). Added tooltype for setting alternate trackers.
