I do have had the mentioned error before, when installing some software( i forgot which),and got help on it here.
I have the same problem now with
httphandler.lha

On li,e 13 of this script

I've had this, too. Turned out to be something with the translation. I am using the dutch-locale, and when leaving out the dutch installer.catalog (hence forcing the system to use the english version) the problem disappeared.

I think that the translated string is too long. I could contact the dutch translator one of these days, but I have to admit that *I* myself is the translator...

Alternatively you could raise a bug report for Installer and get the limit raised. The help command with @copylib-help will happily take lots of extra strings, so it's probably the variable length is limited to a certain number of characters.

I recokon that would take about five minutes to fix by somebody with access to the source code.
