ok tried a different mouse in a different usb port..got to Media Toolbox screen..but still system hanging when trying to install parthenope...do see both my hd and dvd drive though.......geez I have never had this many hang ups with Amiga OS ever

FINAL UPDATE:
got fed up and cleared my new HD of all Linux related crap..fired up OS4.1 and my system is very happy

Well, having crashes when booting from the CD "can't" be caused by anything written on the HD :-/

I agree ...its still hanging..I even took out one 512Mb ram card as I read somewhere the 1GB Ram in the Sam without the OS4.1 fix might be the problem.....maybe the HD is defective...i'll run memtest too...
