AmigaOne XE OS 4.1 Can't Soft Reboot Anymore [Solved]
Just popping in

I've posted this on Amigaworld but its drawing up blank, so figured I'd ask over here too.

Basically my AmigaOne XE cannot soft-reset from my Workbench install anymore.

If I press cntl/a/a the screen goes black and then nothing happens (I have left it for an hour like this, its not just taking a while).

However, if I boot from the OS4.1 install CD, or I boot with no startup-sequence its fine. It just seems to stop workiing once WB has launched.

I've replaced envarc, L, Devs, Libs from the original OS4.1 CD. Replaced kickstart too, installed quickfix.

No joy.

I've tried the reboot command from shell, hard reboot is fine, soft is the same, just black screen.

This only started happening about a month ago, so a bit perplexed.

Reset handler is showing as running in Ranger too.

Ok a very quick reply, but with the help of AlexC on IRC we solved it.

Turned out removing user-startup and it was fine, we investigated further and I had two instances off rexxmast running. It launched from startup-sequence and from user-startup.

Commenting it out of user-startup and now I can soft-reboot.

How peculiar!

This is common in Amiga, the solution is infront of you but you got to search carefully.

Nice to hear that you have solved it. To me it sounds like a bug of Rexxmast. Is BTW Rexxmast still 68k?

iirc, yes it is and it won't change in the future either, because the codebase isn't available to the OS4 devs and AREXX will die in favour of Python anyway
