The CX2388x chipset and the Bt878 can both stream audio. The only problem is how the Amiga will handle the added bandwidth.... and there's no interrupts yet on the Cx2388x versions....

Since the bandwidth required for a 720x576 25fps 16bpp video stream is 120 times more than what is required for stereo 44.1kHz 16-bit audio stream it should not make any difference as far as the bandwidth is concerned.

"shouldn't" isn't the same word as "isn't" though. :)

Remember the A1 has too much latency to DMA straight into the overlay as it is, let alone with an audio stream too.

Ok, i got my videocard and it is an : Terratec TerraTValue Version BT878.

I have the playstation1 connected to it and it works.

I have only 1 thing and that is an litle green stripe(?) going from
the bottom upwards from right to left.

AmiTV 0.13

Edit: AmiTV's output says it is an "Hauppauge Bt878 WinTV" card.

Edit2: When i try to connect the sound to the soundcard can i get
sound from the playstation? I will try that tomorrow.

That card is 3.3V compliant, so if it fits mechanically in a SAM, it should work just fine!

What we really need is to decide on one card that I can use for primary support, which works with all Amigas. Then resellers like AmigaKit could bundle the software with known good hardware.

I had a look at that card, it seems to be suitable, but I can't find them at any local computer shops/dealers...

This card seemed to be a good candidate btw I'm not sure the chipset used but have good features and low profile.

The last word if really suitable is for Spirantho (because I'm new on this domain)

This card is available on numerous internet shop in france and also on amazon.

Seemed to exist 2 design of the cards, see the end of the post here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/237982

I'm using both the `old' Terratec Cinergy HT PCI produced Q1/2007 (based on SAA713x) and this newer one of Q1/2009 (based on XC3028).

Hum... not seen first on the post the MKII point.

I just have a problem with my tv-card:
Terratec Cinergy HT PCI MKII

lspci:
05:02.0 Multimedia video controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder (rev 05)
05:02.1 Multimedia controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder [Audio Port] (rev 05)
05:02.2 Multimedia controller: Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder [MPEG Port] (rev 05)

BTW, Spirantho some deep and personnal questions:

- What have you planned with playing with TV cards for aos4.x (Possibilities are: analogic and DVB-T software, FM receiver program, IRD controler and even capture input with COMP and SVGA,... ???

- Have you got the skill about TV cards software and drivers and free time for working on TV cards drivers (remember that I have just a SAM) ???

- Do you have planned to support next DVB-T HD or other chipsets in the futur (based on the availability of the technical documents).

NOTE: you could explore some of the links I have posted before. Maybe the linux forums coul give you technical explanations on how work the differents chipsets....

On my side, I will maybe baught a TV card and try to help you (I'm not a TV fan but like testing things for the amiga and actually seen what exist actually. Not easy with the chipset informations BTW ...

IMHO hybrid TV cards are the last PCI one for the amiga and allready most of them are PCI-E.

Ok, next card i have tested was :
Pinnacle Systems miroVideo PCTV BT848

Same result as the previous card with BT878.

Occasional crashes in the OS, input keeps playing.

Just had not to scan for a video-input with the 848 card.

On the Conexant chip it's written :

just got a PCI Kworld TV Card

on chipset it is written:

Any hopes for it to work with AmiTV?

I am actually thinking to test it on my Peg2 under 4.1

Very unlikely I'm afraid. I've never seen that chipset nor tried to implement any software for it. Just the Bt8x8 and Conexant CX2388x chipsets work with AmiTV.
