Struck a distribution the other day released as a compressed zip?
i.e
file.zip file.zip.z01 file.zip.z02 file.zip.z03
file.zip seems to be the end file since zip stores all the file names etc at the end of the file right? so for example I used cat file.zip.z01 file.zip.z02 file.zip.z03 file.zip > new.zip
(I did try other orders but this seemed the most logical)
any attempt to unzip it presents errors etc...
seems it's a new compression which current unzip revisions don't support...
I tried looking for a Open Source solution but didn't get very far... sent across to my modded xbox and that couldn't make any sense of it either...
any ideas? solutions?
thanks

btw the file is not password protected if that eliminates any troubleshooting suggestions...
I think I just need the right tool (software) for the job

Looks a bit familar. Have these files been downloaded from usenet ? Then IMHO the file.zip is a control file which refers to the .znn files. You should try to open the .zip file with WinRAR or WinZIP. If unpacking it is your only desire, that is. If you insist on doing it with the Amiga you should wait for an answer from someone with more knowledge than me.
I haven't tried the -F switch but I think that's the answer and yes, the Amiga does have the same commands
@all
thanks for the nice response and support! I will post back if the procedure regarding -F doesn't work for the Amiga!

I tried 055.Terror.Of.The.Autons.zip in front at the end and tried the archives in reverse order with 055.Terror.Of.The.Autons.zip at start and end...
-FF wasn't any help either...
the author of the releases suggests using powerarchiver to unzip them if there are any difficulties...
damn MS and it's endless formats!
Slayer mumbles and heads off to try and find an XBox powerarchiver?????
The main error was it always found the need to truncate the archive... the test release was around 730k once joined after various combos and unzip -F / -FF attempts the end archive was always between 180k and 290k... truncated somewhere in the process...
The only thing I haven't done which is simply cRazy... is jumble the .z0? archives up! lol
I seriously think we are looking at a new compression?

The procedure at the bottom of this page suggests exactly what you have done - join them together with the .zip at the end, then unarc them (I'd use the unzip command-line tool)
My research shows that these split files have been created with WinZip, so you might need to use that.
Also, new versions of WinZip have 64-bit support and better compression (PPMd and bzip2), so those might be tripping it up.
Thanks for the info Chris, read that same mac page earlier on and have tried p7zip from that exact source also...
guess I'm stuck for the moment... no matter :D
