beta AmiYT - another YouTube video player/manager

Hi all,

For all the actual Amiga users left out there...

I've been cooking up a program for a while to merge the functionality
of walkero's great AIOstreams suite with Mick's fantastic YT.rexx player
program to play videos/streams from YouTube.

First it was just going to be a simple ARexx script to grab output
from AIOstreams and send it to YT.rexx. But then I wanted more...

So after a long while, at the following link you can download this beta
and see how "AmiYT" works for you...

Basically, it is completely dependent on one having YT.rexx and
AIOstreams on your system up, running & playing videos. Obviously,
this means you have video players (ideally MPlayer & FFplay) working.
From there this should "just work". :)

There's an Amigaguide file of docs (naturally) and you can just
doubleclick AmiYT to run it. The first run will configure itself.

Once configured, you can add AmiYT to your web browsers pop-up menus,
to URLprefs (in multiple modes), AmiDock, etc. I have mine setup in
AmiDock with a global keyboard combo for instant access. If I see a
link in IRC, in just a couple clicks I am playing the video and so on.

It's made to be as lightweight as possible - you can watch YT (small) on
your SAM440. It uses Mutliview and dynamic Amigaguide files as its GUI.
AmiYT keeps track of what you have watched, what you save to watch later
and what your favorite searches and videos have been.

Using AIOstreams, it relies on Invidious for searches. So instead
of subscribing for Goggles tracking on a "channel", you can save your
search and go back to it to see what's new. ZERO BIG BROTHER SPYING.

AmiYT also depends on Goggles not screwing over Amiga devs&users
(AGAIN) as well as Invidious. Of course they will try, but hopefully the
world and Amiga devs stay a step ahead.

Only did a little bit of testing so far but looks good.
I like the history feature, a nice touch.

I haven't tested it using a configured browser yet, just from the icon but will do so in the next few days.

I tried your program, I love the favorites and history features, very handy.

But I don't know why the Web button isn't working for me?

I did select Odyssey as my browser.

Would it be possible to have an image from the video appear in the favorites?

Thanks for testing and the kind words.

I just tried reconfiguring my AmiYT to use Odyssey and it seems
to be working fine for me. In reality, this is a functionality
of YT.rexx in play when you click the "W" web button.

One thing to bear in mind with any of the web browsers, YT.rexx
presumes your webbrowser is already running and then it just
sends an ARexx message to the browser to load the information
page on the selected YT video.

On some levels, I didn't want to get involved with having to
start the browser program up if it wasn't already running.
Should AmiYT?

With regards to images, for that we have to wait for Hyperion to
forward-port their back-port of Multiview to give us inline
images within AmigaGuide files.

Otherwise, the best we could do is to just have the button that
calls the image up with the URLopen command - like from the
Information Amigaguide file.
