Hi all,

didn't do coding for ages (iBatch was like 15 years ago...), so time to restart: This is my first little project done with RapaGUI and Hollywood:

Ticklish V.1.0 RC4 looks pretty solid to me:

Download Ticklish_1-0_RC4.lha

It is an early early stage...main features upto now:

You can have one Todo List (saved as txtfile)
You can have one Sub Todo List for every Todo Item
You can enter a detailed description/further Infos for each ToDo Item
German translation (xml file) included
win64, win32, os4 and os3 executables included in lha archive.

So, please feel free to do some testing...of course feedback is alwasy wellcome. Check Readme.txt beforehandd

Added a few more features (not available for Download, yet:

Resized Image

More than one ToDo List available, in future Versions "On Hold" and "Today" will be "hardwired". "Today" will be autogenerated.
You can add further ToDo lists or delete your own ToDo list.
Furthermore, columns are sortable...

Resized Image

You can always move any item to any other ToDo list. E.g.: Move an Item to "On hold", because you are awaiting some more informations.

I'll post some OS4 screenshots later, we are still an Amiga Forum

Edit: Amiga OS4 shot:

That is an awesome idea. I was thinking of making one myself.
Do you have plans to have an online server that can keep different systems in sync?

Version 1.0 Release Candidate 1

I am doing a feature freeze, therefor I call it Version 1.0. So please do some heavy betatesting. By the time of release it should be fully functional on Windows and Amiga OS4.

Online Sync and Android/multiplatform is planned for Version 1.1 (see readme).

For this version I added (see readme.txt for full details):
- autosave
- autogenerate "today list" (Tasks due today!)
- config file
- language/catalog support
- eliminated a few bugs/better useability on "Home" Tab

Inside the linked archive you will find an Android applet, however it doesn't really work (see readme.txt). You also find executeables for other platforms, however untested.

For Android, you need the hollywood player.

Downloadlink for latest Version didn't work, fixed that. Sorry for inconvinience...

Windows Version had a bug, so you will find at least a RC2 for Windows 64bit inside the lha archive linked above.

However didn't manage to eliminate that bug on OS4 Version, because MUI sorted Listviews seem to behave different to Windows. (As well as Android does) However, I will find a solution....and will post it. When it's done

Please betatest Ticklish ToDo App RC4!

Fixed a bug and did some more testing...looks pretty solid to me. You are wellcome to do some more testing.
Due to sorting by Date the app saved details and subtodo items in the wrong place (in case you have two items dated the same). This is fixed now. Find OS4 and Windows Version inside the archive. The Linux PPC Version ist not working correctly, yet. See Readme.

I tested today the RC4 and I didn't have major issues. My feedback is mostly on UI elements and usability.

So, here are a few of comments:
- In the details tab, I am not sure what the "New" button is doing. Why is it there, since I can add items with the add button?
- In the details tab, I do not understand what is the free text field under the buttons. Maybe you should add a frame with a title or a label above it. It doesn't change when I change an item from the list. Is it something that provides information about that list?
- In the list tab, there is no mention of the todo list that is selected.
- What is the difference between todo lists and lists? If I get it right, the first is the projects and the second are groups of tasks. Maybe there should be a better way to distinguish them by name.
- Based on the screenshots above, it seems you target the app to work on mobiles as well. But perhaps the same UI is not working well on desktops, going back and forward with tabs.
- There is no way from the details tab to add more information in any task, if needed, nor move it to other lists
- For the readme.txt, do not assume that everyone has multiviewer installed. Better use the multiview as the default tool there.
- I do not understand how "On hold" list works, to be honest. These tasks that are not hold should have just a different status. Instead of having only two states of status, maybe you need more.

Please take my comments as constructive ones. This doesn't mean that you have to do any of these or follow my proposals. I hope it helps.

Great! - so it's worth a release candidate/Beta Version . Thankyou for testing.

I will, and your proposals will discussed and considered. This is acutally very important. I asked for comments, you deliverd on that, so thanks a lot for your input!

Which leads me to the discussion/answer:
The main issue seems to be a language one...usage of unexact terms.

Let me explain:
Quote:
What is the difference between todo lists and lists?

There is no difference...e.g. you have a shopping list and a list containing several tasks you want to accomplish in the next few days...lets call it e.g. Task list.

You will see both lists on the Home Tab inside the listview. Once you click on one of them, the list will be loaded, and stated in the window title...so this statement is "wrong":

Quote:
In the list tab, there is no mention of the todo list that is selected.

Therefore the checkboxes on this tab should not be read as "done/accomplished"...rather as "selected" for deletion. Maybe this will make it more obvious? :

rename
"New todolist" into "New list"
"Del todolist" into "Del list"

rearrange listview columns
"list name" column firstthen "Sel." column

Quote:
I do not understand how "On hold" list works, to be honest.

Basicaly this is an additional list, like any other list. Expect the name and an extra button (rather than putting it inside the listview)...

The List Tab holds all the tasks you have to accomplish..so this is actually your "ToDo List" or "Task List". I guess it would be better to

rename "List" into "Tasks"

???

In our example, each shop you have to visit while accomplishing your shopping list, could be listed here....

The "New" Button just clears the two textgadgets and makes them ready for a new entrance/task. And yes this is sort of "unintituional"

rename "New" into "Clear"? Or maybe just a rubber icon next to the text gadgets?

????

The Details Tab holds "Sub Tasks/Sub Items/Steps....". Therfor each task in the list tab can have its own (sub)list. E.g.: Lists the items to be shopped in the selected shop on tab "List".

Quote:
In the details tab, I do not understand what is the free text field under the buttons. Maybe you should add a frame with a title or a label above it. It doesn't change when I change an item from the list. Is it something that provides information about that list?

There you can add some notes for the selected item on the "List Tab"...e.g. Adress of the shop you selected. The selected item (e.g.shop" will be then stated inside the yellow label field.

Quote:
In the details tab, I am not sure what the "New" button is doing. Why is it there, since I can add items with the add button?

See above...

Quote:
There is no way from the details tab to add more information in any task, if needed, nor move it to other lists

Correct, this is only available for your tasks on the "List Tab" -> These changes/addition will then pop up on your "Detail Tab"

Maybe it is a good idea (???) to:

move the free text field under the buttons (aka "notes"above the text fields and label it "notes"
label the listview "steps"

What do you think?

Quote:
....Instead of having only two states of status, maybe you need more.

On hold = not working on currently...
Status = yes a third status like "WIP" is something I thought about, but will integrate in a future version...technically seen I have then to move away from checkboxes...

Quote:

Tabbed version is a good idea for mobile, however I thought about a different UI for the desktop version. But overall I think it's not to bad, as I want to keep the app in a small window on the desktop as well. MS ToDo does the same BTW, expect that the "Details Tab" pops up automatically...(not that I say MS is the UI standard ).

Quote:
For the readme.txt, do not assume that everyone has multiviewer installed. Better use the multiview as the default tool there.

100% readme.txt and documenation has to be polished before releas anyway.

Input on my ideas would be really appreciated, thankyou very much!
