Setting up internal modem
Just popping in
Just popping in

See User information
Hello all.
The OS has now been installed (with much less hair).
The only problem i have now is getting the modem to work.
As far as i can see, there are two modem RJ45 connectors. One on the motherboard and one as an added card.
The two questions are, which one do i use and how to set it up to go online.
Here are the results:

Modem? Do you have ADSL? I have not used ADSL sense 2000, or was it 1998.

The word "modem" is short for modulator-demodulator. It's a device that converts digital signals from a computer or other digital device into analog signals for transmission over telephone lines

The port on your network card is digital, and it’s called an ethernet port, and its typical counted to a ethernet router.

Honestly both should work.

There is a drawer in your system partition called internet and there is an app called « new connection » otherwise there is right mouse clic >prefs>internet

You can watch this video (at 21:50, he configures the internet connexion) :

Thanks for the reply
Yes, I watched the video but the connections just will not work.
Maybe the OS has not installed properly.
I shall give it another go on Monday and reinstall the OS. Then try again.

Check Devs/Drivers to make sure you have the correct driver installed.

The driver for the onboard ethernet port is called p50x0_eth.device. It is not installed with the OS but from Enhancer (it wasn't ready in time for release so AEON released it with Enhancer, which all X5000 owners should get free).

The driver for the card will depend upon which chipset it uses. Do you know which it is?

Many thanks for the reply.
I traced the problem to the router blocking the MAC address.
All sorted now, thank you.
