How to configure screen modes without EDID (solved)

When EDID info is not available AmigaOS 4.1FE seems to default to 640x480x8 and no other screen modes are available. I've tried to add a monitor file with tool types with DDC disabled and frequency limits and some modes defined which then show up on the monitor tab of ScreenMode prefs but not on the main tab so they can't be selected. I've also tried defining modes with Picasso96Mode but it defaults to something like 72Hz and I cannot edit it without attching to a card and when attached to the card it says for even the 640x480x8 mode that size is too big for the card for any action. What is the correct way to define screen modes when the monitor does not send and EDID and so no modes can be selected? I never used RTG or AGA so this screen mode stuff is completely new to me.

EDIT: Nevermind, I've figured it out. Despite that documentation says the boardtype tooltype overrides the file name in Devs/Monitors it doesn't and it seems the file name has to match the graphics driver name for it to be recognised. After renaming the monitor file I can select modes defined in it.

Additionally to something like "BOARDNAME=Radeon" you may need "CMPLENGTH=6" in the ToolTypes.
This combination should work with all Radeon HD and RX gfx cards.
Without CMPLENGTH it compares the complete name of the gfx card, as reported by tools like Ranger for example, and may only works with a single gfx card.

You are the same as me, personally I never bothered to add screenmodes and always used it as the installation or the driver dictates.

To this day I still have the problem that my Samsung 4k TV cannot display 640x480 resolution under AmigaOs4.1. From 720x480 it is possible again. However, I am not sure if it is really due to AmigaOs4.1 or the drivers or if it is rather a problem with my TV, which simply cannot display this resolution.

In SYS:Devs/Monitor/Radeon all sceenmodes are put in brackets, so I assume that none of them are used.

Even though it doesn't quite fit the actual topic, I wanted to let you know.

@Maijestro
Your are using DDCMODE=All (DDC = EDID, i.e. the driver uses the supported frequencies reported by your monitor).
Only if DDC/EDID doesn't work for some reason you have to manually use the ToolTypes [HV]Sync(Min|Max), MODE=, etc., to define settings/screenmodes to be used by the gfx driver.
