Just can't stay away

Here I would like to briefly share my experiences with both drivers that can currently be used with the A1222.

The A1222eth driver works well, but it often happens that this driver cannot establish an internet connection. The only solution is to reboot the machine. Network slot 0. Roadshow is configured via DHCP. The internet speed is around 1.7Mb/sec.

The p1022 via slot 1 is a bit newer and allows fast internet connections of 3.5MB/sec, but has the problem that this driver crashes from time to time when booting up and in the final phase of loading AmigaOs4.1.

Once the internet connection is established, it works well and is stable. I personally prefer the p1022 driver because it is a bit faster, but unfortunately it often crashes when booting up and so I wanted to share my experiences with other users and ask them how they experienced it.

Is there a bug tracker where I can report errors like this so that they can be fixed later?

In the hope that an AmigaOs4.1 developer who is developing this driver is reading this, I am also publishing the error log and hoping for some help, as this driver should be of the highest priority for internet use.

These two offsets are the same.

So it’s related to the first crash, but in case 2, you do not have a NULL pointer,
but it’s a bad pointer (outside of allocated memory, or memory no longer allocated).

the only way for exec routine to call an external routine, is for it to be a callback hook or an interrupt call.

Some of kind of async problem perhaps, something not mutex protected, used before its ready. Or it can be memory corruption.

Disassembly looks like it may be operations on some Exec List. Second one maybe AddTail(). So it could be missing list protection (disable, sem, mutex, whatever). Or other list errors (double add, remove node which is not in list, node freed but still in list, ...)

That can be checked by using kernel.debug, for example removing a node twice from a list will crash with a DSI at 0xCCCCCCCC.

Adding "munge" to the os4_commandline will additionally cause DSI crashes at addresses like 0xABADCAFE, 0xDEADBEEF or 0xFEFEBEEF, etc. when accessing uninitialized or freed memory, for example a freed node still in a list.

This is exactly the problem: nobody knows exactly who to turn to if they have a problem with their software or hardware because everything is scattered. For me, the hardware comes from AEON, but you probably won't get an answer here. From Hyperion-Enternainment the operating system, but again you probably won't get an answer if you contact them directly. A-Cube system has little to do with the x1000/x5000/A1222plus.

Back to the error, it seems to be coming from the rear right USB port, I had a wireless adapter for my CORSAIR keyboard plugged in there, now that I'm using the front USB port it seems to work better and only occurs very rarely.

BZ is internal beta tester slang for Bugzilla, the bug tracker used by the OS4 team.

This particular Bugzilla issue was raised against p1022eth.device, so it must be regarded as the responsibility of Hyperion (Jamie Krueger, the author of the driver, is also part of the ExecSG team, so I wasn't sure until I saw this - I don't have a Tabor myself).

The OS4 Bugzilla is only accessible by team members (developers and beta testers etc.). Often users will describe issues at the Hyperion forum, and a beta tester or developer will be able to create a BZ (an issue entry) for it. But this can also happen in other forums, provided someone with access sees it and picks it up, like jabirulo did here. In general, it's probably more likely to be seen if posted at the Hyperion forum.

The other driver is part of A-Eon's Enhancer pack, so any issues with that one belong in the Mantis bug tracker at http://www.amiga.org/developer/bugreports/ - here anyone with a login can create issues, not just developers or beta testers.

Thank you for forwarding the bug report to a place where it belongs. As already mentioned, after changing the USB port there are no more problems with the p1022.eth driver.

Normally it is also recommended to use everything wired, but I use everything wireless with different adapters for mouse and keyboard.

Yes, you are right and I mentioned it again in detail in post #10 https://www.amigans.net/modules/newbb/ ... id=149535#forumpost149535 in the last section.

Since I only use the front USB ports with wireless adapters, everything is fine again.
