2026-January Gaming Competition- KOG by RETREAM !

For January 2026 we'll be playing another original fast paced & easy to play but hard to master game KOG from our very own Simone Bevilacqua aka RETREAM.

For those that missed its release you can get your copy at RETREAM's itch.io site

The goal is to reach the highest score possible. Please post a screenshot of your high score table below to participate (also note the computer you're playing on). The leader board will be updated regularly.

Can't believe I've never played KOG before! This one is very fun to play, and it runs smooth as butter. Excellent sound effects and music too! Will definitely make a purchase later.

A little backstory...

This game was born during the development of BOH: I thought I'd use the BOH skin system(*) and rotation routine (it's software-only) as the core of another game and somehow came up with the game concept. As a consequence, the development of BOH halted for the time needed to make KOG (2 or 3 months). Since I felt guilty and I really should have resumed the work on BOH, instead of making new music (which would have required additional time), I decided to reuse the music of MAH, so what you get to hear are snippets sampled from the original SID music.

(*)Initially KOG was 100% skinnable, but when I overhauled it in 2017, 9 years after the initial release, I dropped that.

Firstly:

Happy new years to everyone!


I launched KOG and struggled so hard to make more than 6000 points! Finally I could make 7000!!! Man was I happy!

Then I saw your scores... and thought: OK, it's like in bicycle sport nobody dopes but then everybody does!

But.. wait! wasn't there a news article about an update for KOG?!
Of course! I then realised I was playing a version of 2008!

My first try with the latest version and I got about 102360 points! Yay! ) I'm right behind you 328gts!

Gonna jump on this, love some good challenges :)
This is my first try, going to try to improve it, but just to get in to the game i'll add this now.
