![]() As I already pointed out over at amigaworld.net, an update for the AmigaOne is planned within the first six months of this year, however, I cannot give any affirmative date yet. This classic update was mainly intended to fix outstanding issues in the release version of AmigaOS 4.0 which needed urgent addressing.
However, as is also mentioned in the press release, development of AmigaOS 4.0 still continues at full speed. |

Is there a way to register OS4 Classic without specifying hardware? (I don't have any!) In the event I ever do get hw, I'd hate to have chosen wrong. |

Did you turn off you Amiga completely for about 15 seconds after installing the update? Mostly it should work with just a hard reset, but just to be sure you should try to shut it down completely for about 15 seconds and try again. If that doesn't help, maybe you could try to rename the new 'Kicklayout-A1200' file to just 'kicklayout' .. we had a similar one of these cases on the beta list, but on a second try (after shutting it down completely) it worked as expected and the problem was not reproducable.. |

Same thing here. I uncommented PCIGrahpics.card 3dfxVoodoo.chip and renamed the Elbox "PCI.library" and "Voodoo.card" so they wouldn't interfere. But no luck. I can't even get to the boot screen :( |

![]() It would help if either one of you could hook up a serial terminal. You can try to boot the debug kernel ("kernel.debug"). Replace the line "EXEC kernel" with "EXEC kernel.debug", then boot with both mousebuttons pressed to get into the initial shell (under OS 3.x) and enter
Bootloader COMMANDLINE "SERIAL DEBUGLEVEL=4" That would help a lot to find out what is happening. |

![]() You need a NULL-modem serial cable. After this you need to run a terminal program on your micro (is that micro-A1?). I'm not sure which software would be best, as my other machine is a win-xp machine so I use hyperterminal. You could always try "term" from aminet. Basically, you have to set the terminal program up to connect to the serial port. If you've done it right, you'll see debug information from your Amiga in the terminal window.

The above should not cure the problem, just give a hint what the problem might actually be. |

I thought Voodoo.card was needed. I am sure that is installed with OS4 when selecting Voodoo from the list. Just remove the PCI.Library and uncomment the two files PCIGraphics.card and 3dfxVoodoo.chip from the kicklayout. Then do a complete power off for 15 seconds |

![]() You may be right.
I have a few test installations installed and I'm thinking I might have checked the wrong one. I thought I'd seen the voodoo.card in the plain unaltered OS4 installation, but couldn't find it last night. It might be worth you removing the PCI.library totally as that is what I did and it worked. I will do some tests when I get home tonight. |

![]() Okay, I got a serial debug log from nubechecorre, but it doesn't say much. I would propose you'd do the following:
- Make sure that rtg.library, pcigraphics.card and 3dfxvoodoo.chip are in your kicklayout. NOT only in the kickstart drawer. - Make sure there is NO TRACE left of any leftover Elbox files. Wipe them completely. Make sure you don't have any more pci.library and/or Mediator network and sound drivers. If that doesn't work, the only option I see is to re-install. |

![]() I have left the network and sound drivers in and had no problems but as Rogue suggests, removing Elbox stuff would help to rule out some possible conflicts.
The drivers I have left in are specifically for FastEthernet for the sound card sold by Amigakit and also a Terratec card based on FM801. Obviously they won't work when the PCI.library is removed, I was just interested in how easy I could switch between the official drivers and the elbox drivers. |

This will blow up in your face sooner or later. The pci.library assumes total ownership of the Mediator hardware, as does the OS 4 kernel. You can either use one or the other. Mixing them is strictly asking for trouble. |

![]() As a last resort, repeat the serial debug output but this time instead of "DEBUGLEVEL=4" use "DEBUGLEVEL=10". That will generate a LARGE output file, so you better compress it before you send it to me (by email preferrably)
