First beta of Basilisk II for OS4 uploaded to OS4Depot,

This version is bit basic, no ASL requestors, no screen mode requestors, and TCP/IP support looks broken (it does send and receive packages, but no connection is made.)

* Sound works,
* Picasso 96 support,
* True colour window mode and full screen mode,
* Real partitions works whit RDB support (64 bit addressing)
* Disk images
* CD-Rom works
* Keyboard / Mice works
* Reaction GUI (beta)
* New Icon from Martin "Mason" Merz

Not tested properly

* Serial / parallel ports
* I?m currently testing and tiring to find the problem whit TCP/IP support

 Re: First beta of Basilisk II for OS4 uploaded to OS4Depot,
I'm running MacOS7.5.5 because thats the only one freely available, It should be able to run MacOS8.x, MacOS9 is PowerPC only.

Note in the source-code there is some code for BeOS PPC that enables MacOS to take advantage of the JIT emulator provided in PowerMac rom's, I have not investigated this a lot, but it's where interesting, I do not know if the BeOS version can run MacOS9 or not, I can tell from source code point of view the patches are written in 680x0 machine code, so they probably do not work whit PowerPC OS modules.

@mufa
Well I not been able to test whit MacOS 8,

There are a few things you can try, check ROM type settings under the System tab,
Make shore you have the correct ROM file,
Delete the PRAM file in ENV: and ENVARC: and try again.

If that does not help try whit out and sound and/or network, see if that helps.

 Re: First beta of Basilisk II for OS4 uploaded to OS4Depot,
Thanks, got it working with 7.5.5 using disk images. A slight problem has eventuated, when I load my Amiga Root partition (where I have downloaded some old software and demos) it locks up saying the partition has 0 size (even though it sees the partition and files), funny it worked ok the other night for transferring Netscape over. Apparently you need 7.6.1 at least to use the web.

Great work anyway and I hope this develops like many other OS4 projects.

 Re: First beta of Basilisk II for OS4 uploaded to OS4Depot,
Hi,

I have MAC ROMS (for a Performa 630) and they seem to work with Basilisk II OS4, but my OS 7.5.1 bootable ZIP disk, although mounted properly and visible from workbench using CrossMAC, doesn't want to boot. I get fatal MAC errors and a requester that says to hold down the shift key to disable extensions and reboot. I've tried holding down the shift key during boot(does shift in Apple lingo mean SHIFT or something else?) with no success.
So, could you give me a link to the Apple OS 7.5.5 image you downloaded so I can try it out? Also, how big is that image?

Thanks,

Scott
