Amiga Events

During the latest edition of the Pianeta Amiga event, held on September 26 and 27, ACube Systems presented a significant range of software updates, drivers, and components to the public, designed to substantially improve the performance, stability, and compatibility of their PowerPC boards. The new modules and optimizations showcased during the event cover several key areas of the system, ranging from graphics acceleration to support for the latest generation hardware.

Here are the details of the main announcements:

New Radeon Graphics Driver
- Extended support starting from the legacy Radeon 7500 (used, for example, on the MicroA1) up to the RX 590.
- Compatibility with the highest number of graphics cards and processors, including those currently unsupported by other drivers.
- Integrated 2D graphics acceleration.
- Full EDID/DDC support.

Hispeed DMA Resource
-Enables the use of the HSDMA unit integrated into the AMCC 460ex processor.
-Delivers faster data transfer rates for RAM-to-RAM and RAM-to-VRAM operations.

NVMe Driver
- Allows direct booting on Sam460 boards, from U-Boot all the way through to full operating system startup.
- Includes a dedicated utility for device configuration and status monitoring.

SATA 3132 Driver Update
- Improved management of shared IRQs.
- Added support for multi-controller setups.

New U-Boot Version
- Bug fixes and general stability improvements.
- Enhanced PCI Express management.
- Support for the latest generation of graphics cards (e.g., Radeon RX 6500XT).

Availability: The official release of all presented components and drivers is expected over the coming days or weeks.

QoL and new features. This is long term support. Do these updates improve Mesa performance too?
